What release(s) should we try to put out on vinyl?
Posted by virgil under Vinyl Collective, What do you think?
One of the things we hope to do with Vinyl Collective is seek out those amazing albums that never saw release on vinyl and try to license it for a limited vinyl pressing. I have a small list of releases that I am going after, but I wanted to see if any of you have any ideas of records we should try to put out. Please keep in note that it has to be a release with a bit of demand as it is really hard to sell a thousand copies of anything on vinyl. I appreciate any of you that decide to leave a comment. You never know, we might actually find some records to put out.

Hey dude, ive never seen them so i dont think they exist but id love to see some of the Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros stuff on vinyl, maybe StreetCore or Global a Go-Go… also it would be rad to see either of the Story of the Year albums released on vinyl… im not sure how well theyd sell on vinyl though…

…of sinking ships, new found glory, new Bad Astronaut, Big d and the kids table, bigwig, crime in stereo, daggermouth, dredg, dustin kensrue, final fight, first to leave, further seems forever (how to start a fire), i am the avalanche, the killing tree, new latterman, new Lucero, midtown, much the same, new none more black, park, new rx bandits, new saves the day, new thursday.
some major label stuff and some smaller indie label bands. i know that major label stuff is so expensive to license.
November 15th, 2006 at 1:38 pm
we are actually talking about releasing the new bad astronaut as a split label release with Mars Motors. It would have bonus songs and might be double vinyl.
I did not know that the new none more black isn’t out on vinyl. I just emailed fat about that one. I love that band.
thanks for all of the great suggestions. This helps me out a lot.
November 15th, 2006 at 2:05 pm
fat tells me that Sabot (jordan from against me’s label) will be doing None more Black on vinyl.
November 15th, 2006 at 2:09 pm
hey what about horrorpops?!? ive never seen horrorpops anywhere and that would be sweet… i wonder if hellcat is down or not
November 15th, 2006 at 2:21 pm
as far as horrorpops goes, i have a picture disc for “hell yeah” so i’m guessing other material of theirs has been pressed on vinyl.
id definitely second the request for the killing tree on vinyl, and also add the two give up the ghost / american nightmare albums.
others: slapstick, apocalypse hoboken, death from above 1979 [this may have been put out, i never could find it however], dillinger escape plan - miss machine [same deal as dfa1979], scarlet, and not im drawing a blank…
im sure ill be back with more.

A few of the releases that I’d love to see come out would be: Glassjaw–Worship And Tribute, Glassjaw-Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence, I Am The Avalanche-S/T, Anything Bad Astronaut would be great, Pennywise-The Fuse, The Transplants-Haunted City, Thursday-A City By The Light Divided, Taking Back Sunday-Louder Now, Head Automatica-Popaganda, Saves The Day-Sound The Alarm, Dashboard Confessional-Dusk & Summer, At The Drive In-Acrobatic Tenement, Face To Face-Big Choice (Repress), Face To Face-Ignorance Is Bliss and a 10″ of Strung Outs’-Element of Sonic Defiance.

I just got the Format’s 7″ Time Bomb single and I was shocked to hear that it’s their first vinyl release. If that is indeed true, I would literally murder Kevin Federline to get a copy of the “Dog Problems” and “Interventions + Lullabies” LP’s — whatever it takes.
The only thing that would top that would be some new Gamits releases on vinyl, seeing as how I already own the first two. Would there be a big demand for an “Antidote” LP?
November 16th, 2006 at 1:29 am
Two releases that I’d love to see on vinyl are Shora’s Shaping the random and Merzbow / Shora split Switching rethorics. The first CD has been out of print for ages and is really good metalcore (I hate the word) in the vein of Botch and Coalesce, and listening to the Merzbow part of the CD split always makes me wonder how a thick vinyl version would probably induce a reaction akin to seeing SunnO))) live, while Shora delivers absolutely the most extreme metal music I have heard on their part.

All of the Joe Strummer/Mescaleros albums came out on vinyl.
I have a brilliant album sitting in the can, and nobody wants to put it out. I started it five years ago. Let me know if you want to hear it.
November 16th, 2006 at 11:28 am
add the asian man releases of the lawrence arms stuff, specifically the cocktails and dreams stuff.
November 16th, 2006 at 5:42 pm
the last No Warning record was never released on vinyl. i wouldnt mind seeing the last two Bury Your Dead albums on wax. A Perfect Murder, Dredg, Meshuggah, The Red Chord. i would totally buy any of those.
November 17th, 2006 at 1:57 am

November 18th, 2006 at 1:34 pm
Hey could you release anything by the band The Haunted. Preferably their newest release called The Dead Eye, it was released on century media a few weeks ago here in canada.
November 18th, 2006 at 7:18 pm
I second that Slapstick idea.
The Haunted: I have The Haunted Made Me Do It on vinyl, don’t know about the others.
Give Up the Ghost/American Nightmare: all of their releases came out on vinyl already.
November 18th, 2006 at 10:41 pm
-Darkest Hour — Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation
-Boy Sets Fire — Tomorrow Come Today
-Circa Survive
-Ester Drang — any of their stuff
-Him — Peoples (Doug Sharin’s jazz band, not the gay ‘love metal” shit
-The Holy Ghost (they’re an awesome band from Brooklyn, dudes from Opium Taylor and Skeleton Key)
November 19th, 2006 at 6:42 am
How It Goes by Big D and the Kids Table definitely needs to be released on vinyl. There’s a ton of stuff that’s currently on Asian Man but CD-only that’s begging to be released on vinyl (Alkaline Trio, Lawrence Arms, Screeching Weasel, The Queers, Slapstick, Broadways, etc.)
November 19th, 2006 at 11:27 am
the holy ghost is on vinyl you can get it at deathwishinc.com store.
November 20th, 2006 at 8:27 pm
Bear Vs Shark’s ‘Right Now You’re in the Best of Hands…’ needs to be pressed on vinyl.
November 21st, 2006 at 12:51 pm
NO, not Holyghost, THE HOLY GHOST. Completely different band. Holyghost, I think, is Human Furnace’s project. The Holy Ghost is more of an indie rock thing.
November 22nd, 2006 at 6:25 am
Friction is doing the first Bear vs. Shark LP
I wonder if anyone is doing the new Brand New album? That’d sell plenty.
November 23rd, 2006 at 9:15 am
ya is there any word on the Brand New album? id buy that for sure, i was looking on ebay but saw nothing.
November 24th, 2006 at 4:20 pm
yeah, i saw brand new would be great. but how about this: 3 album box set, a portion of which that are made could be limited design (not limited color), maybe along the lines of the lithographs they used to/currently have printed? idk. i’d just love to get all three instead of just the 2nd album or newest.
November 27th, 2006 at 7:19 am
1) the first ‘fall of troy album’ (they released doppelganger and sold out of em the s/t is begging to be released.)
2) portugal. the man- waiter: you vultures!

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO PUT GHOST BUFFALO ON VINYL.
January 14th, 2007 at 4:10 pm
so here’s a bunch of random little ideas:
the fall of troy’s doppleganger, maybe with an amber/red seethrough color, with the siamese twins in the middle of the record, and the black lines running all over the disc?
the bled’s pass the flask?
a brand new box set of all three albums?
a saves the day box set?
say anything? that’d be a great set…
the sound of animals fighting? even better..
thrice vheissu?
dustin kensrue.
CIRCA SURVIVE.

January 23rd, 2007 at 6:20 pm

February 4th, 2007 at 3:15 am
Definitely The Format, Interventions & Lullabies, as well as Dog Problems would be absolutely amazing. Gym Class Heroes was a good idea too. Just some info for #29 up there. Minus The Bear already has a few albums on vinyl. I own two of them.
February 4th, 2007 at 3:16 am
If any RX Bandits fans never got a hold of the limited edition print of “The Resignation” on vinyl. I have access to it. It is a limited supply though.

I’ll second the requests for Aggrolites -S/T on hellcat, Transplants - Haunted Cities, and None More Black - This is Satire.
To the above request for Horrorpops - both records have been released on vinyl and are widely available - I got both on ebay.
