EXPLODING HEARTS “Guitar Romantic” LP

We just got in a handful of copies of the reissue of the Exploding Hearts’ classic, Guitar Romantic. This is one incredible album by a band that should have become one of the biggest bands in punk rock. The band saw their unfortunate end when 3 of the 4 members died in a van crash while on tour. The band was just starting to receive buzz from some early singles and the release of this album. This album was originally released by a German label on vinyl and just recently reissued by the folks at Dirtnap/Green Noise. If you love the Clash, these guys were the 2nd coming of the band. What a great record! Note that this will go out of print very quickly. Don’t half step on this one.

We just sent out a statement about the future of Suburban Home, Vinyl Collective, and Dead Format. I figured that those of you who frequent Vinyl Collective should know what is going on. Do not worry about how this will affect things at VC as I plan to keep it running strong and have a lot of vinyl releases planned for the future. Thanks to everyone’s support through all of this though. The statement is rather lengthy so click the link if you have the time to read on.

We at Vinyl Collective love dealing directly with labels releasing vinyl. It cuts out middle men and that savings gets passed onto you! Limbeck “S/t” LP (Platinum vinyl)

Limbeck “S/t” LP (Gold vinyl)

Suburban Home and Vinyl Collective are excited to be releasing the latest album by Southern, California’s Limbeck. We have been big fans of the band since they released “Hi Everything’s Great”. We actually tried to put out the vinyl for “Let’s Come Home”, but a weird set of circumstances made it difficult for Limbeck to commit to letting us put out the vinyl. Every time I would see the guys in Colorado, I would say, “Hey, we are always down if you ever need someone to put out your album on vinyl.” I guess our persistence paid off as the last time the band was in town, we made a handshake deal over beers to put out their self-titled upcoming album on wax. This new album could be their best material yet and that is huge praise as I absolutely love their last 2 albums. Limbeck seems to have refined their sound a bit and if I had to compare this latest recording to other bands, I would say take their last record and add a little bit Ben Kweller/the Shins.

The pressing is limited to 1,000 copies (500 on Platinum and 500 on Gold). It is our strong belief that this album deserves to receive Platinum and Gold status so it was necessary that we put the record out on these colors. The record will be pressed on 140-160 gram vinyl and the record jackets will have Spot Gloss Varnish. The artwork was done by the same person who did the Shins “Chutes Too Narrow” vinyl (Jesse Ledouxville).

This is a pre-order, records will ship towards the end of March.

Russian Circles “Enter” LP (white/black splatter vinyl)

The fine folks at Friction are doing a 2nd pressing of the Russian Circles vinyl, this time the pressing will be on White/Black splatter vinyl. This is a pre-order as we expect to receive copies during the first week of March. This pressing is limited to 600 copies.

Vinyl Collective 10 LPs and 10 7″s vinyl sale

Much like our 25 for 25 and 50 for 50 CD sale at Dead Format, we were inspired to do a big spring cleaning sale with the records that are taking up way too much space at Suburban Home/Vinyl Collective headquarters. This sale will include 10 LPs/10”s/double LPs as well as 10 7”s all for the low price of $30.00. The records that will make up this sale are listed below. When we run out of a record or two, those records will be replaced by a different LP or 7”. US orders can use the $3.00 for unlimited shipping for quite the steal. International orders, unfortunately, have to pay quite a bit to ship these records as they this order weighs 10 pounds.

As you look down the list of records going out in this sale, you may not recognize some of the bands. Many of the following bands are no longer with us, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t find something incredible. This sale includes records that are punk, metal, hardcore, and somewhat indie rock. Many of the following records are also out of print or close to it. Each record, during their day, was considered worthy engouh to be released on wax. This would make a great starter kit for a beginning vinyl collector or a great way to boost your collection since we all know how much everyone likes to boast about the number of records in their collection. We will only be putting together around 50 LP/7” lots so act fast!

Bear VS Shark “Terrorhawk” red-yellow LP

Call it a miracle, call it a nice set of circumstances, consider yourself lucky if you get a copy of this record. We sold out of these long ago, but somehow one of our distributors found themselves unable to sell the copies of Terrorhawk that we had previously sent them. Because of this, they sent us 9 copies back in a return today. Holy shit! I just put them back on Vinyl collective so if you missed out the first time around, order this right away. Since there are only 9 left, I give it about 3 hours until they are gone again and you will resort to going to ebay to pick up the scraps. Good luck!

FEAR BEFORE THE MARCH OF FLAMES the always open mouth double LP (Red and Yellow vinyl)

FEAR BEFORE THE MARCH OF FLAMES the always open mouth double LP (Red/Yellow inside outside vinyl)

Fear Before the March of Flames did something absolutely amazing when they wrote and recorded “The Always Open Mouth”. It would have been very easy for them to rehash the style they had developed with their first 2 albums which had attained them a strong following. Instead, they reinvented their band and sound and did something completely new and refreshing. I don’t hesitate to mention this new album in the same sentence of legendary albums like “The Shape of Punk to Come” by Refused as it is that good. Although it might take some time for old fans to digest this new direction, anyone that spends any amount of time with this album will realize that this is the type of album a band can only dream of making, one that is sure to influence countless new bands and be a new measuring stick for all bands playing hardcore.

We are excited to be co-releasing “The Always Open Mouth” with Grey Flight Records as a very limited double LP. There will only be 1,000 copies ever made and of the 1,000 copies, 500 will have 1 yellow record, 1 red record, and the other 500 will have both records in a red yellow spatter which is called inside outside and both records will be the inverse of each other. To get what I mean, look at the black/white vinyl for the Bear Vs. Shark “Right Now” vinyl. In either case, the 2 versions of this LP will be super limited and will certainly go out of print.

This is a Pre-order. Records will not be shipping until close to the end of March.

From time to time, I like to give updates on pressings that will soon be gone and give you a head’s up so you can have a chance to get some of these soon to be gone records. This time around, the following releases are soon to be out of print:

Hold Steady “Boys And Girls In America” LP (baby blue vinyl)
THE HOLD STEADY “BOYS AND GIRLS IN AMERICA” LP (BLACK VINYL)
HOT WATER MUSIC “No Division” LP (colored vinyl)
DRAG THE RIVER “Esta Loco” LP (Blue Vinyl)
DRAG THE RIVER “Esta Loco” LP (White Vinyl)

DRAG THE RIVER “Esta Loco” LP (Black Vinyl)

No Idea just sent out an email the first pressings of the Hold Steady and Hot Water Music vinyl are now sold out. We have only a handful left of the Baby Blue and Black Hold Steady vinyl and only 2 copies left of the Hot Water music vinyl.

With regard to the Drag the River vinyl, this kind of snuck up on us. I was going through our records and noticed that there were only a handful left on blue, just a little bit more on white, and half a box left in black.

Please do not waste any time with this notice as I am sure that it will only be a few days before we are totally done with the Hold Steady and Hot Water Music vinyl and only a couple of weeks before the Drag colored vinyl are gone.

HOT WATER MUSIC “No Division” LP (colored vinyl)

PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS “Mercy” LP (colored vinyl)

We just got in stock the Hot Water “No Division” vinyl and the Planes Mistaken for Stars “Mercy” vinyl, both on colored wax. Preorders will go out today, but you can still place an order for colored copies. Thanks.
