right on.
I never got into vinyl for one reason or another, but as i finally own my own place i feel something like a record player and a collection of really good records seems evident and insanely important of an idea to pass up.

i know personally i'm in a silent protest for buying digital players, as my iPod broke 4 times in one year, thankfully each under the previous ones 90 day exchange warranty, so this might be a good time to dive in.

If you keep pressing them, I'll keep buying them. I gave up on CDs years ago and it was probably the best decision I've ever made as far as listening to music is concerned. And since I've never downloaded a song in my life -- and have no plans to -- I have no other choice but to buy albums. And I never really cared if vinyl sounds better; I've been making copies of copies of tapes since I discovered punk rock all those years ago. How could sound quality possibly matter to someone like me? I don't consider my insistence on listening to vinyl ideologically-driven. It's just what I do.

EXACTLY my thoughts... We've been running Reflections Records in Europe for almost 10 years now and even though we DO release CD's, nothing beats vinyl. Especially in this day and age where everything is fast-fast-fast and technology seems to be going faster than what we can handle (well... at least for this guy!) vinyl is something to hold on to. And not for nostalgia's sake, but simply because it gives music more value. At least in punk/hardcore/independent music, we should cherish music as an art-form and not as something that's disposable like 99% of all crap the the music industry wants to force through our throats.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I've often pondered my attraction to vinyl. After 14 years of ordering records I still get giddy every time I see an record mailer in the mailbox. I spend far more time admiring the artwork, reading the lyrics/linear notes, checking for scratched messages, and reveling in the pops, hisses, and warm sound that vinyl brings, than I ever would with cds (mp3s are even worth mentioning).
