A long overdue update for Things to Expect. I will have some new pre-orders announced over the next week.

Things to Expect 

We just announced the pressing of the Playing Favorites “I Remember When I Was Pretty” and one of the colors is a pink/blue color within a color vinyl. I have had a number people asking what this is. Your answer lies with the following PDF file:

Record Patterns (look at #6 which is not only the color within a color, but it is pretty damn close to the colors we will be doing.  While you are looking at this pdf file, note that the #12 is what we are doing but with white speckles so it will be blue w/ white speckles. All of the colors should look super slick!

You can click the image to enlarge it. As you might expect from Hydrahead, the package looks amazing and all of the colors look great. For some reason, I think I favor the half and half black/gold.

We still have a handful of every color, but as with most Jesu releases, expect these to sell out.

some of you had asked about the new Bruce Springsteen album. We just got in some, but it is likely you already got it somewhere else. No biggie. We did get in a 180 gram pressing of Pearl Jam Ten and I don’t care how hip your record collection is, this is one bad ass record. I could not get enough of this album in 1993 and I think it still holds up today!

Hi friends, This has been a bit of a rough week as my computer decided to stop working when I went to New York last Thursday. Long story short, after completely taking apart my computer and having a new mother board installed, it was the plug that was the problem. I finally got it all sorted out today, but all week long I have felt like a professional bowler having to bowl with a house ball (does that makes sense?).

The reason for this update is that in a normal week, I would have posted images of many of the records we had received. Instead, I will just give you a quick lay of the land:

• We got in copies of Jimmy Eat World’s new album, pre-orders have gone out and are going out. I did not know, but it comes with a full download of the album.
• The New Amsterdams also came in and that cover art looks great on an LP jacket. I love this album so make sure you check it out.
• We just got in the Jesu “Lifeline” vinyl and I am about to check it in. I hope to post photos tomorrow. Pre-orders will also go out tomorrow.
• Just got word from my pressing plant and Portugal the Man’s “Church Mouth” will be here my November 12th and we hope to put together a record packing party that night. We had hoped for them to be here by now, but you know how it goes sometimes?
• I am ordering a bunch more of the Victory back-catalog as it was well-received. It inspired me to deal direct with Hopeless and I will soon have a bunch of Hopeless Records’ old school back-catalog in soon!
• I know that the Things to Expect and the Test Pressings’ pages are out of date. I hope to update tomorrow.
• For anyone interested, I had an amazing time in New York. What a fun city? And it helps that I have some really nice friends out there.

I feel like I should type this post in ALL CAPS due to my enthusiasm over the fact that I am releasing the Playing Favorites’ debut album, “I Remember When I Was Pretty”. If you read this post imagining me screaming at the top of my lungs, you will get a feel for how truly pumped I am. There is a lot of information in this post so please pay close attention. There’s a refreshing honesty and authenticity to The Playing Favorites that can’t be fabricated. Their debut album “I Remember When I Was Pretty” plays like a tribute to a collective and possibly checkered past of a circle of friends.

The album will be in stores on December 4th, but CHECK this out, if you pre-order the album, we will send you the ENTIRE digital album as DRM-free mp3s on November 20th. Yes, you will get to hear the album and put it on your Ipod a full 2 weeks before the official street date. Now you can ignore those crazy relatives coming over to your house to eat Thanksgiving dinner as you will be rocking out to the sounds of the Playing Favorites.

There are 3 colors of vinyl available (Pink/Blue color within a color(150), Pink/Blue half and half(250), and a blue w/ white speckles(600)). All are going to look amazing. We are offering 25 sets of all 3 colors where the band will be signing copies of one of the records. Pretty sweet!

The vinyl will come with a full color poster of the Playing Favorites and a Suburban Home Records’ sampler containing tunes from LaGrecia, Drag the River, Scott Reynolds and the Steaming Beast, Armchair Martian, and much much more.

We also have to announce the fact that the Playing Favorites just set up their Album release show which coincidentally is also their first show ever, at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, on Friday, December 7th. We are so excited about the show that my wife and I are flying out to witness what should be an unbelievable night. Please accept this post as an invitation to join in the celebration of a truly amazing band releasing a fucking brilliant album!

The Playing Favorites just set up a Myspace page with a website to soon follow. Expect many updates from their sites as well as ours.

I feel like I just went back in time to grab you a bunch of wax from the late 90′s from Victory Records’ catalog. We actually owned a record store back in 98/99 and carried most of the following titles. I am surprised many of these are still in print actually. Remember that any purchase of Victory releases enters you to win a bunch of test pressings.
