I just got off the phone with David of Suicide Squeeze. Looks as though they will be re-releasing “They Make Beer Commercials Like This” and finally putting it out on vinyl. I am a little bummed that we are not doing the vinyl, but it makes sense as to why they are. David has been so rad though that they are giving us a Vinyl Collective exclusive color as well as copies of the other colors they will press this on. We will be the only place you can pick the exclusive color from. The record doesn’t come out until June and we will announce a pre-order sometime in April, but while we were talking we agreed that we should let our message board help decide the color of the VC exclusive color. So here’s your chance. Suggest the color you would like to see this pressed on and at some point soon, we will put it up for a vote. Thanks.

Robert Benson, the author of “The Fascinating Hobby Of Vinyl Record Collecting” has been so kind as to offer us vinyl collectors his ebook for free. When I first started talking to Robert, his ebook contained around 40 pages. Now it is over 100 pages and it has something for every level of record collector. Got a shitload of wax delivered today and I must say that I am extremely happy with how it all turned out. The Drag the River LP jackets have silver pms printing on them and just look so pretty. Those guys like their vinyl simple so we have Grey, Brown, and Red. Scott Reynolds’ wax turned out extremely nice. I think I favor the Gold with Burgundy Swirl. And the Minus the Bear, holy moly. If you don’t want to know the mystery colored vinyl do not click the link towards the end of this post. I will say that the Root Beer Float is one of the coolest pieces of wax I have ever seen. So cool. I have some good friends coming over tonight to eat pizza, drink beer, and pack records. Most of the orders will ship tomorrow with the exception of the ones who ordered the signed Scott Reynolds LP. I should have got them signed this weekend, but I was a little too drunk all weekend to remember to do that. Scott is currently signing and will send them to me tomorrow. Flood is at it again and this time, he is putting together a repress of the Bomb the Music Industry / O Pioneers split that has been flying off of the virtual shelves at a record pace. This time, 2 colors out of an edition of 500. Do not hold your breath as these will also go quickly.

As I a sure someone is sure to ask what is up with the Get Warmer repress of Bomb the Music Industry, well, we are just waiting on the covers. Once we get these, we will ship those suckers out.

We expect to get in the BTMI / OP splits in by the end of February, hopefully Get Warmer will be here then, too.

One of the greatest aspects that I have noticed while running Vinyl Collective has been finding out about these labels I had previiously known nothing about who are putting out incredible records. Arctic Rodeo Recordings is one of those labels. Take a look down the list and chances are you are not familiar with every artist listed. I do ask you to take a chance and do a little taste testing because this label is putting out some really incredible stuff. In the following list are new projects by people who have spent time in acts like Rival Schools, Onelinedrawing, Promise Ring, The Gloria Records, Texas is the Reason, and more. I know that there are a lot of our boarders that would find this label to be really great.

Arctic Rodeo is based in Germany so we have worked out a deal where I am putting his catalog on pre-order, seeing how it goes, and then putting an order together. We expect to receive records in by the end of February. I do ask that you take a good look and see if you want any as all of the titles are extremely limited, all are hand-numbered, and many are close to being out of print.

I also want to mention that Frederic who runs ARR is a vinyl fanatic and is a frequent supporter of Vinyl Collective.

DRAG THE RIVER “Live at the Green Door” LP

For the Drag reunion shows this past weekend, Jon, put together the remaining box of copies he had for “Live at the Green Door” which is this really great live recording from a show in Oklahoma City. I am not sure the pressing numbers, but this could be your last chance to get it. I traded jon out for 20 copies that besides the few copies he has are it. What makes this live LP really cool besides sounding fucking great is that there are a handful of songs where Jon and Chad trade off on vocals. You can hear Jon singing “Get Drunk” and Chad singing “Jig” amongst a few other trade offs.

Man I love this fucking band.

3 big ol’ boxes showed up to my door on Friday from Kiss of Death, but since I was in the middle of a Drag the River reunion weekend and since my brother and his wife had a baby girl yesterday, I am only just now getting to it. There are some seriously bad ass records in the following list which includes Vinyl Collective Exclusives for the O Pioneers! / The Measure spilt 7″, and the New Bruises / Stolen Bikes Rider Faster split 7″. There are new releases, too which includes the above mentioned New Bruises split, a Mouthbreater 7″, and a Serious Geniuses / Jean Claude Jam Band split. Lastly, we got a ton of restocks including colors of wax totally new to Vinyl Collective.

Get em while you can as these are all sure to go quick. I spoke to Bryon from KOD yesterday had a rad conversation about how there are so many great bands on small labels these days and how labels like Fueled By Ramen at one time was pretty cool (years ago mind you). I found out that Bryon is in the New Bruises which is very cool. Bryon, you rule!

Almost forgot to mention that we have a test pressing contest for the Mouthbreather 7″. Order any Kiss of Death title from now til the end of February and have a chance at the test pressing. Good luck.
