I think that this is the craziest leap year in recent memory. We have so many crazy things going on at Vinyl Collective that it is hard to keep it all straight. The Recess pre-orders are going like crazy and I am sure we will sell most of the Screeching Weasel, Queers, and Off With their Heads over the weekend. We got the ok to get 200 more Alkaline Trio goddamnits and those are already moving fast. I really hope we can get both colors of that one, we will know around the middle of March exactly what we got.
This next week we will be posting the new Me First and the Gimme Gimmes 7″ (maybe Monday), we have new singles by Radiohead, Thom Yorke, and Band of Horses coming in too. I have a shit ton of restocks coming in. I also have records coming in from Botch, Clutch, more Weakerthans, more Loved Ones, and the list goes on and on. My head is spinning keeping up with all of this.

I started an account with a distro who will be getting in the Elliott Smith represses and we should those towards the end of March. I will be getting in that Hives repress this week, too.

We are about to sign a lease on a new space to move Vinyl Collective out of my house. Also, Steph is going to go back to her previous employer and in her place, I have hired two friends, Justin and Seabron. They started working this week and things have already gone so smoothly. The prospects are really exciting and I feel really lucky to be in the center of all of this.

We will be getting in the Alkaline Trio (the first 5 colors) and the Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground in early this next week and will work on getting those out right away. We also just got in the Able Baker Fox, but we won’t be able to get those out til Monday. I hope everyone understands.

It is beer:30 and my buddy Joey is about to pick me up to go see Against Me, Git Some, and Eyes and Ears in Ft Collins. It should be a good night.

ALKALINE TRIO “Goddamnit” re-release LP (new color(s))

The good folks at Lumberjack have granted my wish to get more copies of the Alkaline Trio. I have 200 more copies coming in, but they said that they can’t guarantee an even split of the colors. I asked them to put in a request with the guys who are packing the boxes so hopefully we get a mix of both colors. Because of this, I recommend that you order 2 copies if you want both colors. I will do my best to get you both colors, but I can’t guarantee that you will get both. I recommend getting 2 either way so that you could use the 2nd copy to trade someone in case you don’t get both colors.

Somehow it just makes sense that in this leap year, on this leap day, we are announcing carrying the entire Recess Records catalog as well as 3 really big pre-orders from this legendary label. I have known Todd over at Recess for many many years and am glad that we have just started working together.

First item of business, we are doing an exclusive pre-order on his upcoming Screeching Weasel, Queers, and Off With Their Heads vinyl which we should be shipping by April 8th. We have been given the ok to give a test pressing for “Boogada” and I am waiting on the thumbs up for a test pressing for Queers and OWTH. I will update you soon. And as far as I know all 3 records will only be pressed in a first edition of 500 copies. The Weasel will be on a gatefold jacket and will be on either red or pink vinyl. The Queers will be on Orange vinyl and Todd will soon tell us what color the OWTH vinyl will be on. Get these while you can.

A recent thread on our message board inspired me to drop Murder By Death a line. Much to my surprise Adam wrote be back immediately. He was down with us carrying copies of their records on Vinyl Collective. I will actually be meeting the guys when they stop through Denver this Sunday. If the opportunity presents itself, I might just ask them if they might want to do a split 7″ for our under the influence series. It may not happen, but you can’t blame me for asking.

Back to to the topic at hand. We will be getting all 4 albums from this incredible band when they get back home from tour around the end of March. They said they are selling vinyl really well on this tour or they would just give me copies when we meet up. Besides the band, I think we will be one of the only places you can get these records. Have you heard the tracks from the new album? My god, they are so good. So make sure you pick up all the records while you can and wish me luck for Sunday!

This is a continuation of what I had posted yesterday. I am riding that middle ground between trying to add new releases and also trying to find the lowest price I can from each and every new distributor I work with. The one that I am buying these titles from make it difficult to know if certain titles are in fact imports or if they were sent overseas from the united states and then resold to distros in the states. Alright friends, I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of chatter about the redux of Alkaline Trio’s  “Goddamnit”. I had originally posted that there were 6 colors (500 each) including an exclusive vinyl collective color and an exclusive blood pact color. Most of that is true, but there are actually 8 colors (500 each) including the 2 exclusives. The 2 colors you may not already know about are being sent directly to Lumberjack who will be selling copies to their various outlets. I am working on getting the 2 colors we were previously unable to get in stock so wish me luck.

And to create a little more confusion, our vinyl collective exclusive color is now the Yellow / Purple/Red half and half w/ black splatter. Originally we were going for Red with Black smoke which is what was voted upon on our message board. When that would not work, we asked if they could do another color option that I cannot remember now and when it was all said and done, the pressing plant pressed a solid red color. I just figured to go from red with black smoke to red, some of you might be disappointed. Skylar was cool enough to swap out the red for the Yellow / Purple/Red half and half w/ black splatter. Hope too many people are not bummed on that. I am very sorry about the confusion.
If you are looking to complete your set with the 2 other colors, I am not sure the best approach. I will have a word soon from lumberjack if we can get those 2 other colors and hopefully we can. Either way, we will have them next week and will send them your way.  Thanks Asian Man for giving us an exclusive color. We really appreciate it.
