1969 "Maya" LP (members of Academy Is, Butch Walker)

1969 maya

1969 “Maya” LP white vinyl (Academy Is / Butch Walker)

1969 “Maya” LP yellow vinyl (Academy Is / Butch Walker)

1969′s (Butch Walker, Michael Guy Chislett, Darren Dodd) album “Maya” is now available on vinyl on 2 different colors. I don’t really know much about how this band formed but I do find it a bit odd that Butch Walker and the singer of Academy Is would end up being in a band together. Our friends at Vinyl Summer released the vinyl which is limited to 500 copies split between the 2 colors.

A Quick day after Memorial Day Update

Howdy friends, I have a quick update on all things Vinyl Collective that I wanted to share with you before I left for the day to cook dinner for my family. There is a lot of ground to cover and I am in a bit of a hurry so sorry if this is short and to the point:

  • Minus the Bear “Beer Commercials” was shipped out today, you should have received an email with tracking information.
  • We will be receiving copies of See You Next Tuesday “Parasite” tomorrow. Orders will ship out tomorrow and Wednesday for those.
  • I still have no definite date on the Every Time I Die “Last Night In Town”. The plant continues to tell me that they will have a date soon, but as of today, I am still not sure when we will have them. I hope to have an update this week.
  • Russian Circles “Station” and Ghost Buffalo “The Magician” will be showing up next Monday. Expect copies to ship out on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Teenage Bottlerocket “Warning Device” will soon be out of print. We have 75 more copies coming in later this week and after that, they could all be gone. Get yours now!
  • For those of you wondering what is up with the Vinyl Collective Cooperative label, I now have every team’s voted lists and will be compiling them tonight/tomorrow. I had meant to do it over the weekend, but my son has been really sick. I will have the final list done by week’s end and will start contacting labels this week too. Stay tuned, there are some really rad records on the list.
  • Got a promo of upcoming Gaslight Anthem album and man is it super sweet, After only a few listens, it sounds like it will find a place in my top 10 of 2008. Although not quite official, it is looking really good that we will have a VC exclusive color to offer for the new album.
  • Speaking of Gaslight Anthem, I plan to announce a pre-order for the Euro pressings of their album and 10″ as well as Euro pressings of Fake Problems and Mischief Brew (who I just discovered and absolutely love). Expect the pre-order to go up as early as tonight/tomorrow, but more than likely by Friday.
  • Depending on how my son feels, I will be hitting up the Asian Man Records tour and have spoken to Bomb the Music Industry and Lemuria about stopping by Vinyl Collective. I hope to have photos to share.
  • We have some really exciting releases to announce soon. Expect a few updates soon!

That is it for now. Thanks for everyone’s support. I am really excited about all things Vinyl Collective and would not be here without all of you.

VC handling fulfillment for Second Nature Recordings

I am so excited to share with you the news that Vinyl Collective, as of today, will be handling the fulfillment for Second Nature Recordings. What does that mean you ask? Well, it means that when you go to the Second Nature site and access their store, when you place an order, it will be your good friends at Vinyl Collective packing the orders.

So please take a look at our newly created Second Nature Recordings’ store, which you can find it here. As of right now, the only way you can access their new store is by using this link. Even the Second Nature website has not been updated yet to link the new store.

Please do us a big favor and let us know if you find anything not quite right. We are expecting to have to fix few things here and there.

I highly recommend that you take a good look at the store as there are some really great records including rare stuff by Isis, Blood Brothers, Casket Lottery, Coalesce, as well as stuff by Rocky Votolato, Able Baker Fox, Kid Kilowatt, and much more. Also, even when they have a record that is out of stock, they have info on the pressing information for each title, something we are considering doing on the Vinyl Collective store sometime.

I actually have all of you to thank for us working with Second Nature. Because of a thread on the VC message board complaining about shipping and handling, Second Nature asked us if we would be interested in handling their store sales and we answered with a resounding YES. And now, you can buy all you can buy from Second Nature’s store for $3.99 (in the United States)!

At some point next week, we will begin offering much of the Second Nature catalog in the Vinyl Collective store, the reason we haven’t done so just yet is because many of the titles in the Second Nature store are only available as 1′s and 2′s and we figured this announcement would take care of many of those titles.

Take a look and let us know what you think. Thanks.

New to VC: Brian Jonestown,Paramore,Pinback,Two Gallants,Kaiser Chiefs

PARAMORE “Misery Business” half vinyl CD import
PINBACK “Blue Screen Life” dbl LP clear vinyl
PRIESTESS “Hello Master” LP
TWO GALLANTS “I’m Her Man” 7″ white viny

We finally got some Ace Fu titles which is rad cause we have one of my favorite Pinback albums, “Blue Screen Life”. We also got the vinyl/cd hybrid for Paramore which is pretty crazy. PO: Mike Park "North Hangook" and "For the Love of.." LPs

mike park is fun

MIKE PARK “North Hangook Falling” LP clear vinyl

MIKE PARK “For The Love Of Music” LP blue vinyl

Just got the word from Asian Man Headquarters that we can post the pre-order for both Mike Park albums, “North Hangook Falling” and “For the Love Of Music” which will be release on Asian Man. Only 300 copies of each album are gonna be released and Mike plans on holding onto some when he tours with Sundowner in August. With so few copies being pressed, I expect these to be gone pretty darn quick. I forgot to ask mike if we will be doing a test press contest so stay tuned for that.

I love Mike Park and love his music and am stoked to finally get some of his music out on vinyl.

Records should arrive towards the end of June.

Cutman "Big Deal" 7" and "No Trick Pony/Big Deal" 7"

Cutman dbl 7

CUTMAN “Big Deal” 7″ gray marble

CUTMAN “No Trick Pony + Big Deal” dbl 7″ gray marble vinyl

Just got in these Cutman 7″s from Team Science and Kiss of Death. There is the Big Deal 7″ and the Big Deal/No Trick Pony double 7″ which comes with a free CD (as pictured). The packaging on the 7″ and double 7″s are spectacular. They are both gatefold and the printing looks so sharp on them.

We only got in a handful so get them while you can.

Mutant Pop is Back, now availalable through Vinyl Collective

Without assuming that all of you are hip to Mutant Pop, I will give a brief introduction. During the mid to late 90′s Tim over at Mutant Pop was responsible for putting out some really great pop punk records and he was the king of putting out highly sought after limited edition vinyl. The mutant pop singles all had a uniform look so if you were browsing through the 7″ section at your store, you could point out one of their records a mile away. They did small runs on colored vinyl and more than likely those colored copies were history sooner than later. They put out singles by Dillinger Four, Sicko, After School Special (singer went on to Enemy You), The Automatics (sounded like a cross between the Queers and the Nobodys), Underhand (singer joined Zoinks) and so much more. Not only that, but Mutant Pop ran 1000 Flowers which was one of the best mailorders for pop-punk. Back when Suburban Home first started, Tim was a big fan of the Fairlanes first single and through the strength of his mailorder catalog, he sold over 200 copies.

Not sure why, but sometime in the early 2000′s, Tim stopped putting out records and Mutant Pop kind of quietly stopped running their label and mailorder catalog. I was thinking about their records and thought I would drop them a line and when I checked out their website, it said they were back at it. I am super excited about this. I asked for a wholesale catalog and honestly, it was like going back in time. I found a lot of rad pop punk and punk and indie rock and have added more titles to our store from the likes of J Church, Automatics, Jon Cougar Concentration Camp, Boris the Sprinkler, Beatnik Termites, Weston, Winepress and more. There are some true gems in the list. Enjoy.

I got a couple copies of Opiate by Tool which is a first for us. I got in some Lamb of God records, and I finally got in a few of the Man Man album which is totally ridiculous (in a good way).
