As you all know, we have been running the Second Nature store for the past month and throughout the setting up and maintaining of the store, we have come to learn a lot. Through our experiences of running multiple stores and recently merging our CD store into Vinyl Collective, we have decided to merge the Second Nature Store into the Vinyl Collective store. After spending much of last week and nearly all day today, all of the Second Nature inventory is now in the Vinyl Collective store. The Second Nature store is still up (for now), but it has zero inventory.

If you ordered or pre-ordered something from Second Nature recently, you will receive your items without any problems. If you want to order or pre-order anything from Second Nature, you can now do so in our store. We still have a number of kinks to work out, but take a look here.

My mind likes the idea of managing one store and one inventory.

We got in copies of Mike Hale’s amazing debut album, “Broken with No Hope”. I am super excited to finally have these. Since Andy was out today moving into a new place, we pulled all the orders, but they will not ship until tomorrow. If you haven’t ordered this album, I highly recommend it. The album is so good (and I realize I am a bit biased since we are putting out his next album). If I had to compare Mike Hale to anyone, I would compare what he does with Elliott Smith. I will leave it at that and just recommend everyone check it out.

Subpop sent me out a list of recently uncovered or repressed items that had been out of stock for a while and the gem in the stack is the Murder City Devils “Rip Live” LP. Get that while you can. Those won’t last very long. We also got in a Briefs single, some Constantines, Mudhoney, Thermals and more.

Pink Lincolns

Just got in the Pink Lincolns and for those of you who pre-ordered, your copies will go out today. The records look great and I can’t wait to give them a spin.

Ninja Gun

Ninja Gun (6/18/08) – We had Ninja Gun in town for a week and we just fell in love with them. They are some of the most genuinely nice folks around, they are super funny, and they put on one hell of a show. We all miss them and can’t wait for them to come back to Colorado. When they hung out at the office, we asked them to grab a record they loved and pose with it. There are some really great selections.

Geoff from our office took some truly radical footage of Ninja Gun when they played with Sleepercar and Ghost Buffalo the other night. I highly highly highly recommend you check out the song in process, “Dirt Weed” which is going to put Ninja Gun on the map. Check out the new track they recently recorded for us, Rainbow, and a song from their album, “8 Miles Out“. Ninja Gun are one of the greatest bands on the planet and it is only a matter of time before more than a handful of us realize that.

check out other Visitors of VC.

Alright friends, I am super excited to let you know that we finally got back in stock the Weakerthans’ “Left and Leaving”. Hopeless took a while to repress it and in that time, i also convinced them to give us 2 test pressings for a contest. So purchase the Weakerthans and enter for a chance to win a test pressing. Good luck. Note that the test pressings have the labels on them but the folks at Hopeless said that is how they came. We also got in restocks of a lot of classic Hopeless Records titles including Thrice, Samiam, 88 Fingers Louie, Schlong, Nobodys, Falling Sickness, and more.

alkaline trio vinyl (not shoes)

ALKALINE TRIO “Agony & Irony” LP

180 gram edition of the upcoming Alkaline Trio album, “Agony & Irony”. Comes with a full download of the entire album which is nice to see a major label do. I will be honest, I am a big nervous to hear this new album. Anybody give it a listen yet? I am still very partial to the old Asian Man stuff and never full freaked out over the Vagrant titles (although I like Remains quite a bit).

We only have a small number coming in, but I am working hard on getting more. (I said “hard on”). Get a copy while you can.

PINK LINCOLNS “Back From The Pink Room” remastered LP pink/white vinyl

PINK LINCOLNS “Back From The Pink Room” remastered LP black/pink vinyl

Man, this band brings back some seriously rad memories. Back in my day (mid 90’s), I used to rock a lot of Pink Lincolns when rocking Screeching Weasel, the Queers, and so on. If my memory serves me correct Stiff Pole out of Florida put out a lot of the older Pink Lincolns material. Our good buddies at Jailhouse are putting out re-issues of a lot of the Pink Lincolns catalog and they have been generous enough to offer test pressings to 2 lucky folks. Your purchase(s) of this release will enter you to win a test pressing for this record. Good luck.

Now if someone would put out all those old Gotohells records on vinyl, I would be stoked!

We also got in 3 new records from our neighbors to the north (Canada, not Wyoming). This includes records by Vapid (not to be confused with the Vapids), White Lung, and a cool compilation LP.

fucked up weekend

V/A “Fucked Up Weekend ‘07″ DVD

This DVD was shot over the three days of shows of the record release weekend for Fucked Up’s “Hidden World” LP. A few songs from over 15 bands are featured including Fucked Up, Homostupids, Double Negative, Career Suicide, Brutal Knights, Waste Management, Sex/Vid, The Tranzmitors, Mind Eraser, Statues, Marvelous Darlings and more.

It would have been cool if they would have called up, “Weekend at Bernies Part 4, the Fucked Up Weekend”, but that is just my opinion.
