Photos of Fake Problems Viking repress 7"

america fuck yeah

It looks like the terrorists won. The patriotic repress of the Fake Problems’ “Viking Wizard Full of Lies” 7″ which was supposed to show up by the 4th of July. As you can tell from the photo, the records look great. And the cozies are cool, too. What you can’t see is the opposite side which has the little slogan I came up with. Remember you get a free cozie when you pick up either a set of all 4 colors or the clear w/ red, white, and blue splatter.

VC welcomes Ten Four Records (CHUCK RAGAN/AUSTIN LUCAS!)

CHUCK RAGAN/ AUSTIN LUCAS “Bristle Ridge” CD
CHUCK RAGAN/ NAGEL “Snapshot” 7″ white vinyl
CHUCK RAGAN “Ole Diesel” 7″ white marble vinyl
CHUCK RAGAN/ MUFF POTTER split 7″

I realize that some of you might have just shit a big ole brick after seeing the cover art for the new Chuck Ragan/Austin Lucas split only to find that we are carrying the CD, not the vinyl. Sorry for the false alarm. Chuck has notified me that the domestic pressing of “Bristle Ridge” on vinyl is still around 6 weeks out. We are working together to offer a pre-order for the vinyl so stay tuned. And yes, I know that we don’t typically carry CDs, but when Chuck Ragan asks you to help out his new label, you just say yes. I have so much respect for Chuck and all that he has accomplished and am happy to help him get a few copies of his releases out and about. Plus that Chuck/Austin record is fucking amazing.

Not a total false alarm on the Chuck Ragan vinyl front as we have 3 singles that we have never carried before. We have the Chuck / Nagel split, the Chuck / Muff Potter split, and the “ole diesel” 7″. I think at least 2 if not all of these are imports and as far as imports go, I think we have them at fair prices. Regardless of our price, I am sure that these will end up on Ebay sooner than later for a lot more than the $5.99 price tag we have them for.

Help your Chuck Ragan collection by picking these up. You will be glad you did. And know that we will soon have pre-orders for the Chuck Ragan / Loved Ones split and the Chuck / Austin LP.

PO: MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK "Even If It Kills Me" LP

MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK “Even If It Kills Me” LP

I got an email from someone the other day to ask if we would be carrying this album. Emails like this really help me to know what is coming in and so if ever you are looking for something that you know is coming out soon, please consider emailing me. Things have been so busy lately, some of these newer titles slip through the cracks.

Epitaph has finally pressed Motion City’s latest album on wax. I have no idea right now if it is on colored vinyl, but I would think that a hot pink and or bright blue would look sharp. I will never understand Epitaph, with the release of this album they will have put out everything except for the band’s best album. Come on Epitaph! At least they are putting out vinyl.

Get this while you can. We should have these by Friday or Monday.

Photos of Tim Barry, Dine Alone, Bad Brains, and Chris Clavin

Got in a bunch of stuff yesterday and today. Got in the Tim Barry vinyl last week, but we just got in the covers. Those pre-orders should go out today. Got in all the Dine Alone stuff (City and Colour, Sleepercar, Black Lungs, and Empire Air) and they all look sharp. Seabron took a photo of the test pressings of City and Colour, Sleepercar, and Black Lungs. Lastly, we got in the Chris Clavin vinyl and all of the colors look great. Got a test pressing for that one, too, so make sure you pick up a copy to enter to win!

New to VC: U2, Beck, and Fucked Up

BECK “Modern Guilt” LP
U2 “Boy” LP
U2 “October” LP
U2 “War” LP
FUCKED UP “Year Of The Pig” LP

We got in the new album by Beck, the recent import reissues of classic U2 albums, and we finally got in the Matador 12″ of Fucked Up’s “Year of the Pig”. Still no word on those UK or japanese 7″s, but when your band is called Fucked Up, you can’t always assume things to go smoothly.

VC welcomes Get Outta Town Records (Attitude,KYI,Geeks)

ATTITUDE “We All Go Down Together” LP pink w/ yellow and brown splatter vinyl
ATTITUDE “We All Go Down Together” LP clear w/ rainbow splatter vinyl
ATTITUDE “We All Go Down Together” LP brown/white color in color vinyl
KILL YOUR IDOLS “Something Started Here” 7″ box set
The Geeks “Every Time We Fall” LP green vinyl

I am super excited that we are now dealing directly with Get Outta Town Records. They have put out a record we had been getting from a distributor, the Korean H/C band, the Geeks. But now that we are dealing direct, we have their latest release on 3 different colors, Attitude’s “We All Go Down Together”. And we finally got in some of those very cool box sets for Kill Your Idols. Get Outta Town puts out hardcore vinyl and if that is your thing, this label should be on your radar.

Suburban Home to release Joey Cape's album, "Bridge"

Joey Cape nice stache bro...thanks man

Coming off the very exciting news that we will be putting out Useless I.D.’s next album which I announced last week, I have even more great news. After a phone call with Mr. Joey Cape last night, we have agreed to release his first solo album, “Bridge” in North America. I have no hesitation saying that Joey Cape is one of the greatest songwriters on the planet and I feel like someone should pinch me because I could not dream up a more incredible piece of news to share with you.

For those of you who don’t know, Joey Cape is the front man of Lagwagon, Bad Astronaut, and one of the singer/songwriters of the Suburban Home act, the Playing Favorites. I first met Joey through his label, My Records. Besides being an amazing musician, Joey ran one of my favorite labels in the late 90′s. He put out the first albums by both Nerf Herder and Adventures of Jet and put out a few releases for Armchair Martian, all bands I love. He has remained relevant over 20 plus years of writing and recording music and he is recording some of his greatest music now.

Suburban Home will release “Bridge” in North America on Vinyl, CD, and digital formats. Joey had mentioned the possibility of a bonus track not available on the European and Japanese versions, but I can’t completely confirm that. We are aiming to release the album in October which could possibly be the same month we release albums from Useless I.D., Drag the River, Tim Barry, and Two Cow Garage! Joey has gone on record as saying the following about his first solo offering, The strange part of all this is, now that it is done, I’m not sure how to feel. It is my first attempt at making a solo record, something I am totally unfamiliar with. I know this, I will never make a record this way again. From now on, no second guessing or obsessing. Ultimately, I am proud of this record. I made something I like and it’s time to move on. I hope most of you will appreciate it. I have decided to call it “Bridge”. I think the musical metaphor is appropriate because it is something new for me and it will lead me to another place as a songwriter, whether it be a better appreciation of my craft or the butt of another songwriter’s joke. Either way, I’m on my way

We will soon be posting an mp3 and as Joey completes the mixing and mastering, we will have a release date nailed down. Know that I could not be more excited about all our recent signings and releases. This is an exciting chapter in our 13th year of doing Suburban Home.

One side note – I could not resist posting this photo of Joey with a mustache. I can only think of the brilliant movie, Safe Men which had the line, “Sweet Stache Bro”, “Thanks Man”. If you haven’t seen the movie, do so immediately and get ready for an unbelievable fall release schedule.

Ninja Gun featured on Rocket Fuel Podcast

I feel very fortunate that our new friends at Rocket Fuel have been giving Suburban Home lots of love. Being a Southern Boy himself, Jeff showed a little Southern hospitality by playing our own Southern Boys, Ninja Gun. Rocket Fuel played “8 Miles Out” from Restless Rubes and it sure sounded good. Besides Ninja Gun, RF played the Impossibles, Drive Like Jehu, Cheap Girls, Hold Steady and the Loved Ones (who he also did an interview with Dave of the Loved Ones).

Rocket Fuel is on a short list of my favorite podcasts. They always play a great mix of current tunes and oldies and I feel like they were reared on the same catalog of punk rock and indie rock that I was. Thansk for the love Rocket Fuel and those of you not hip, get familiar here.
