TP/PO: CROOKED FINGERS "Forfeit/Fortune" LP limited edition white vinyl

CROOKED FINGERS “Forfeit/Fortune” LP limited edition white vinyl

Crooked Fingers latest album will receive the vinyl treatment from our friends at Foreign Leisure, the folks that put out the Maritime albums that sold out rather quickly. They have another great package planned for this album, 1,000 pressed and once they are gone, they will not be repressed. White vinyl. Digital download coupon. Bonus track. And Neko Case lends her beautiful vocals on one of the songs.

I will admit that I am a bigger Archers of Loaf fan than a Crooked Fingers fan, but I did see Eric Bachman play a show locally and it blew my mind. He is an amazing musician and a Denver resident which is fucking cool. If you are even remotely a fan of Eric, Crooked, or Archers, you should pick this up cause this will not be around later.

We also have a test pressing for a test pressing contest. If you pick up the album you will be entered to win a copy. We will announce a winner in October when we receive the records.

VC now carrying Razorcake, issue #45

RAZORCAKE Issue #45 Leatherface, RKL

Back when we posted a bunch of books the Razorcake dudes publish, people had asked when are you gonna carry Razorcake. Your requests have been heard and we now have the latest issue of Razorcake. Not only that, but we hope to become an alternative for you to pick up a new issue. For the time being, we are only selling current issues for $2. If you have never picked up this magazine, this is a great one to start with. It has a Leatherface interview which is all I need to say. I love what these guys do with their magazine and am 100 percent behind supporting what they do. There need to be more good zines on the planet and these guys carry the torch really well.

Suburban Home Signs Austin Lucas

Austin Lucas

Suburban Home records could not be more excited about signing Austin Lucas. I had first heard of him when I picked up a split 7” with him and Chuck Ragan. The split inspired me to pick up his latest album, “Putting the Hammer Down” released by Magic Bullet/Hometown Caravan and I just fell in love. I had emailed Austin asking him to be a part of our Under the Influence spilt 7” series and was happy to hear that he was interested in contributing. Assuming I was waiting on his next correspondence, I hadn’t written him back for some months and then one day while talking to Mike Hale, Mike had mentioned that Austin had recently relocated to Portland, Oregon, from Praha, Czech Republic. I did not know this at the time, but Mike and Austin are good friends. Mike told me that I should give Austin a call and talk. I did just that and right away, Austin and I hit it off. Our conversation led to a few emails, which lead to a discussion of us possibly releasing his next album. Not being one to stop on someone’s toes, especially a great label like Magic Bullet, we both asked for the label’s blessing in putting out Austin’s next album and today, I am excited to say that Austin Lucas is the latest artist to join the Suburban Home family.

Austin will be rounding out the year by joining Chuck Ragan, Tim Barry, and Ben Nichols on a few dates of the Revival Tour as well as a performance at this year’s Fest. He has been writing what will be his debut for Suburban Home which he plans to record in Ohio employing his family to play and record. We hope to have this album out in March of 2009.

We are so excited to have Austin a part of our family. He has one of the greatest voices in roots music and his lyrics really cut to the core.

TP/PO: CHUCK RAGAN/ AUSTIN LUCAS "Bristle Ridge" LP clear vinyl

Chuck Ragan and Austin Lucas

CHUCK RAGAN/ AUSTIN LUCAS “Bristle Ridge” LP clear vinyl

Just got the green light from Chuck to post a pre-order of the masterpiece collaboration between Chuck Ragan and Austin Lucas, “Bristle Ridge”. I wish more artists would do releases like this. It is great to hear two amazing musicians write and record songs together and Chuck and Austin make one hell of a team. This is a great album and some of you might already have the euro pressing on Hometown Caravan. This is the Domestic release pressed on Chuck’s own label, Ten Four Records. They are doing 500 on Clear and 500 on Black. I expect our 100 copies to sell out in a day so whenever that happens know that Chuck will have it up in his merch store, too.

I am really love this release and am stoked that Chuck has been so kind as to donate a test pressing for one lucky purchaser of this record. We will announce a winner towards the end of September.

This is a really really great record. Austin’s song, “Sun or Snow” always gets me choked up.

A Quick Update from Vinyl Collective

The update that I posted last week seemed to have helped a few people know what was going on so here goes another one:

  • As you can see from the Alkaline Trio s/t photos, we now have them in stock. We hope to start shipping these out tomorrow, but they might no go out til Thursday or Friday. We also just got in the Dillinger Four “More Songs about Girlfriends and Bubblegum” old school and new covers in stock. Those could start shipping as soon as today. Photos will soon be posted.
  • We also got in the colored vinyl for Kepi Ghoulie which was damaged at first, and we got in the Faint’s new album which should be shipping today or tomorrow.
  • I will be posting a pre-order for the Clear vinyl domestic version of the Chuck Ragan / Austin Lucas “Bristle Ridge”. We are only getting in 100 copies so expect those to sell out soon. Don’t fret if they do as Chuck’s merch store will soon have copies on clear and black. Chuck is giving us a test pressing, too!
  • Today or tomorrow, I will be posting a pre-order for Crooked Finger’s “Forfeit/Fortune” LP on white vinyl. This should be a fast mover as the label is only doing 1,000 copies with digital download and will not be repressing it. We will have a test pressing for this one, too.
  • Tomorrow, we will be posting a pre-order for Two Cow Garage’s “Speaking In Cursive”, their fourth album and first on Vinyl. If this goes well on vinyl, expect more vinyl soon for their older titles.
  • We will be posting a pre-order for a Hey Mercede’s single and a City on Film LP which for whatever reason, we never got in. We should have those by next week and will be doing a test pressing contest for Hey Mercedes.
  • We just got in the new Suicide Note LP which we will be posting soon. It looks really nice.
  • We are going to be announcing a new Suburban Home signing this afternoon if all goes well. I still can’t believe this signing. If you can guess it before I post it, I will give you a $25 gift certificate to VC. No hints, sorry.
  • I hung out a lot with Mike Park and Chris from Sundowner over the weekend and it looks like I talked them into doing an under the influence split 7″ for us. Fucking stoked! The shows were small, but they were incredible. I will have some photos from the springs’ show later today.

I hope everyone is having a nice tuesday. All is well here.

Photos of O Pioneers!!!/The Anchor split 7"

Got some good news friends. We finally got in some of the O Pioneers/Anchor splits, but it wasn’t the assholes at the USPS that brought them, it was a 2nd box sent from Triumph of Life. Thank goodness they used UPS this time around as it has been months sent they shipped the first box to us and we still do not have it. I would like to think that some day in the near future, the 150 7″s they sent will magically arrive, but at least Triumph of Life had enough extra copies to fulfil the orders. If you pre-ordered this, your records should have shipped yesterday. Sorry for the really long delay.

I will admit that I am not the craziest about the placement of the art. I am sure that Asian Man had trouble finding the hi-res art from the original files, but I think they could have went with the same size and centered the art for a better effect. I do really like the Blue and the Orange colored records though. These should ship by week’s end

Restocks: Torche,Isis,Neutral Milk,Ween,Gilman St,Saves the Day

I figured I would end this crazy week of new releases and pre-orders with a crazy restock list. Lots of Good stuff. I would talk more, but I have to go meet up with Mr Park and Mr Chris for the big show tonight. Have a great weekend.

TP/VC Welcomes 1234Go: Git Some,Cute Lepers,Fifth Hour Hero

I am really excited to be offering 1234 Go’s catalog through Vinyl Collective. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to get these records in stock. Steve and I have just conducted a Vinyl Collective / 1234Go trade as we both have stores and I am stoked to see the new Git Some record in the box. If you haven’t already ordered the new Git Some from 1234 Go or from No Idea, please pick it up from us. It is a great record, great guys, and you always have that ex-Planes Mistaken for Stars Connection. They are a rocking band and the gatefold records look fantastic. 1234Go also gave us a test pressing for one lucky person. Order the album and you will be entered to win.

While you are taking a look at this post, make sure you don’t already have the other releases from 1234Go. I recommend the In the Red / Git Some split, The Arrivals/the Brokedowns split, the Fifth Hour Hero / Saint Catherines split, and the Replacements Compilation which features tracks by Against Me, Drag the River, The Ergs, Tim Version, Off With Their Heads, and more.

On the topic of the Replacements Tribute, 1234 Go has only put it out on CD. I told him he should do a pressing on wax and he wasn’t sure. What do you all think? I would buy one!
