A DEATH IN THE FAMILY “This Microscopic War” LP brown vinyl

Our friends at Crafty, Asian Man, and Resist Records have some new records. Crafty just put out the Max Levine Ensemble/Spirit Animals split which features 3 songs from each act who both call DC home. Guerilla Poubelle is a blistering punk / hardcore act from France. Mike Park spoke very highly of these guys and fro what i have heard, they rock. A Death in the Family are from Australia and have taken cues from jawbreaker, Against Me, and Hot Water Music.

VC now offers all you can buy UPS ground shipping for $10

We are excited to offer all of you another option for your U.S. Vinyl Collective orders, UPS ground shipping. We have been very careful about adding another shipping option and have decided to give UPS a try throughout the holidays. When it is all said and done, we are going to evaluate UPS’ performance, but between you and me, it can’t get any worse than USPS media mail. USPS’ tracking barely ever gets updated and more times than not, it creates confusion with our customers. I have thought about putting together a class action lawsuit against the USPS as we pay for this service and it almost never works. That, my friends, is a project for another day.

Back to UPS. UPS automatically insures their packages. They have a set number of days that they deliver their packages. Most destinations on the west coast will receive their packages in 3 business days. Many midwest destinations like Chicago and Minneapolis are also 3 business days. New York and parts of Florida are a 5 business day delivery (or 1 week). Note that 3 business days are not always 3 days. If we ship something on a Friday, 3 business days would get the package to the customer on Wednesday. They don’t count Saturdays and Sundays (sorry if this is redundant).

And yes, UPS is more expensive, but we have decided for simplicity’s sake, we will offer all you can buy shipping through UPS for $10. Yes, this is more than the cost of Media Mail, but with it comes some added incentives. The nice thing is that this is just another option, this does not replace any of our existing shipping options.

Vinyl Collective finally has a Frequently Asked Questions

We have realized for quite some time that we were in need of a Frequently Asked Questions for all your questions regarding combined orders, change of addresses, damaged vinyl, shipping questions, etc. I am not sure what took us so long, but we finally have it all set up. If there is something missing, let us know.

Vinyl Collective Frequently Asked Questions

Photos of Get Up Kids and Earth

Wanted to share with you a few photos. We got in the Get Up Kids “4 Minute Mile” on blue vinyl. I think I will have more coming in this week for those of you who missed out. What a great album. I also had to share with you the Earth “The Bees Made Honey in the Lions Skull” bible bound triple gatefold double LP. The packaging on this one is ridiculous.

Photos of Minus the Bear Interpretaciones test pressings

I thought I would share with you the unique paintings that Vinnie Fasano did for each of the Minus the Bear Interpretaciones test pressings. 3 of them are off to various recipients of MTB test pressings (Juan Diniz, Scott Heisel, and Kurt Maner). One of them will be auctioned off today and I will be sending a few of them to the band. Hope you dig them.

Vinyl Collective Test Pressings posting on Ebay today

Every year around the holidays, I post a set of Test pressings so that a few lucky folks can get the ultimate collectible as a gift (even if that gift is purchased for themselves). As I was scheduling the auctions, I just got carried away and posted 1 of almost every Test Pressing we have. This is going to be nuts. The Auctions will all start at 99 cents and will be posted Today at 2pm Mountain Standard Time (1pm Pacific,3pm Central,4pm Eastern). The auctions are all set for a duration of 7 days. I wish you all good luck. Note that the numbers in each title represent the hand-numbering out of however many were made. Some test pressings have a run as low as 5, some as high as 20. Nearly all of the test pressings are housed in a dust sleeve, all are hand-numbered, and the Minus the Bear interpretaciones test pressing has a unique painting by Vinny Fasano. We will post photos of all 10 unique paintings for those test pressings later today.

PO: TIM BARRY "Manchester" LP brown/black half and half vinyl

TIM BARRY “Manchester” LP brown/black half and half vinyl

Being able to work with Tim Barry is such an honor. When I first started putting out his first Demos CD, I couldn’t believe it. I was pretty certain that at any time some bigger label would have come along and started putting out his records. I expect that day will come at some point, but we have put out 2 incredible albums, an EP, and  7″. Tim actually said that the Revival Tour has been really incredible for his songwriting and he was already half-way through another album. Pretty amazing huh? Seeing Tim on that tour was so rad, I feel as though the Revival tour exposed him to so many new fans. Tim is actually working on a tour of the entire United States for the end of February to the end of April and he will be bringing along Austin Lucas who will be supporting his debut album for us. I can’t wait for this tour.

So between how well “Manchester” has been doing through mailorder and through distributors and the fact that Hot Topic put in an order for 600 copies, we had to repress the album. We are doing a pressing of 1,000 on brown/black half and half and with 600 copies going to Hot Topic, we will only have 400 for sale in mailorder and distributors. Get a copy if you haven’t yet picked up this album. The half and half is going to look amazing with the artwork.

We should have copies in stock in around 2 weeks.

Just got in a box of records from Hometown Caravan. What a great label. Hometown Caravan are from Germany and they have put out some of my favorite records. That Austin Lucas 10″ for example is a must own as it is so fucking good. The Chuck / Austin bristle ridge is amazing, too. They are all great records and if you don’t already own them, do yourself a favor and pick some of these up. In 2009, Elmer at Hometown Caravan will be doing a Drag the River single for us and an Austin Lucas/Mike Hale split 7″. I can’t wait for those.

RAZORCAKE Issue #47 Sass Dragons, Full Of Fancy, Ninja Gun

RAZORCAKE Issue #47 Sass Dragons, Full Of Fancy, Ninja Gun

The latest issue of Razorcake just arrived and I highly recommend everyone pick up a copy. This is a particularly exciting issue for us as this is the first time that one of our bands has ever been interviewed in an issue of Razorcake. Ninja Gun has a really great interview (yes i am biased) in the issue. Coody, from Ninja Gun, is one of our most articulate interviewees and he always has really interesting things to say. I haven’t read the entire issue, but they are always great. There is a piece called “The Vinyl Record Bubble” that should be interesting, too. Razorcake is always great, and for $2.00, you can’t beat the price. Get one and support one of the last great zines out there.
