We are excited to announce the sixth release of our Under the Influence series. The series finds bands we love recording songs that have influenced their song writing. The artwork is being done by the very talented Mitch Clem and Nation of Amanda who has been asked to make his own renditions of the album art that the song being covered originally appeared. For this fourth release, Andrew Jackson Jihad are covering “Two Headed Boy” by Neutral Milk Hotel and Cobra Skulls are coving “Subterranean Homesick Blues” by Bob Dylan. The 7″s will come with a coupon that will allow you to download the tracks as mp3s. The 7″ will be pressed as an edition of 2,000 copies.

If you saw my attempt to post this video and decide to comment, please do not mention any of the particulars from that previous post (trying to post this without getting a friend of a friend of a friend in any trouble). Watch this really great video of an inebriated Joey reading from a giant list of words filtered on message boards. There are some truly random words so if you are looking for a definition, refer to this link.

AS WITH MY PREVIOUS WARNING, THIS IS EXPLICIT AND THOSE EASILY OFFENDED SHOULD IGNORE THIS POST AND VIDEO.

PO: ALKALINE TRIO "Goddamnit" re-release LP clear vinyl

ALKALINE TRIO “Goddamnit” re-release LP clear vinyl

I know what you are thinking, great another pressing of an Alkaline Trio record. I know I know. But this is a very small pressing out of 297. And this is a great record. Not sure why Mike has been doing these smaller pressings, but here you go.

PO: BEN WEASEL "These Ones Are Bitter" LP black vinyl (/300)

BEN WEASEL “These Ones Are Bitter” LP black vinyl (/300)

Originally released by Edmond Records (Mike Kennerty’s label), this was pressed last year with a CD. I remember Ben saying that this was only gonna be availalbe digitally besides that pressing w/ a CD, but in 2009, Asian Man is re-issuing it on vinyl and on CD. Not sure why, but Mike Park said the presssing is only out of an edition of 300 on black vinyl. I don’t expect these to last forever so make sure you pick one up sooner than later.

We just posted Ben Kweller, now Ben Weasel. I should try to see what’s up with Ben Lee and Ben Nichols. I would really love to put out Ben Nichol’s solo EP on wax.

PO: Vinyl Collective and Suburban Home zip-up hoodies

SUBURBAN HOME “Logo” HOODIE
VINYL COLLECTIVE “Logo” HOODIE

With the number of cold days greatly out-numbering our warm days, we keep talking about making hoodies. We figured that some of you may be in need of a good zip-up hoodie, too. It’s all about layers! So as you can see, our new president has been so kind as to take a few moments out of his crazy schedule to model our brand new hoodies. As you can see, the hoodies are as simple as it gets baring a small logo on the breast only. We all seem to prefer the zip-up hoodie over the pull-over so that is what we went with.

For a short time, we have them available for only $20 (just a tiny markup) with the hopes that there might be some of you willing to pre-order them so we can get an idea of how many we should order. We will raise the price after we get them in stock.

TWO COW GARAGE “Speaking In Cursive” T-SHIRT

After offering most of the above only in deluxe sets, we decided to do a shirt count and post the shirts for sale individually. Most are available in limited quantities with a few being history after they sell out. All of the shirts are not on American Apparel.

Drag the River compiles list of bands they have played with since 2000

Jon and Drag the River have been keeping a list of the bands they have shared the stage with since 2000. It is pretty impressive list. After seeing the list, I thought it might be something others might find interesting.

The list is really long so click the read more link if you are interested in seeing the entire list.

New/R: Goblin Cock,Neutral Milk Hotel,She & Him,Elliott Smith,Pegboy,Arcade Fire

Got a ton of great records in today including new ones from Goblin Cock (rob crow from pinback), Genghis Tron, and Cotton Jones. We also got in a lot of excellent restocks from Neutral Milk Hotel, She & Him, Pegboy, Arcade Fire, Sleater Kinney, Horse Feathers, These Arms Are Snakes, and more.

I was just listening to the Sleater Kinney “Hot Rock” record the other day and I have to say that Sleater Kinney are one of the greatest bands and this album is a must own. If you missed the boat on them, now is as good as any to rediscover them. I miss them quite a bit.
