I loved Justin’s last album, “The Good Life” so much that it made my top 10 of 2008. It was a refreshing blend of Alt-Country, Honky Tonk, and roots rock. I listened to it so much that Andy asked me to stop playing it in the office. I warned him that there is a new Justin album and that he should expect me to play it about a million times.

About this new album, I am not only excited to hear it, but I am so stoked that we are working with Bloodshot to do this pre-order. We have the album for sale on CD, vinyl, and we have sets that contain the cd or lp with a t-shirt, button, and a poster. Also, there will be a few signed copies that will be randomly sent out with orders.

Listen to this track from the new album, and be stoked that you will soon have the new Justin Townes Earle album. I can’t wait.

If you dig records Drag the River, Hank Williams, and most things alt-country, you should consider picking this up. I am stoked on the new track and the cover of the Replacements’ “Can’t Hardly Wait” which is on the album.

Important Under the Influence news

Hey friends, just a quick warning that the Teenage Bottlerocket/Ergs splits are almost history. While doing inventory, we found a few more Red and Green copies of the TBR/Ergs split and we only have 20 left of the blue. After sending out some records to distributors, this record will be history.

Volumes 1, 2, and 3 are all really close to being out of print, too, so if you have been sitting around thinking about picking up 1 or all, do so now.

Drag the River’s volume might become the first volume to sell out before we get them to distributors. Co-releasing it in Germany took away nearly 400 copies so that greatly affects how many we have to sell.

We just got the art for the Andrew Jackson Jihad / Cobra Skulls split and let me say that Mitch and Amanda out did themselves once again. You are all gonna be stoked. The pre-order will go up on Thursday, January 29th at 2pm. The big question here friends, should we press 2,000 copies? I just fear that with how fast some of these have been going, this might sell out before we have copies to send to mom and pop record stores. Let me know what you think.

Vinyl Collective and Red Scare to partner on vinyl releases

I am excited to announce that after a number of discussions, we have reached an agreement with our friends at Red Scare to become their vinyl partner. What exactly does that mean? Well, we are planning to license and release your favorite Red Scare titles on vinyl. We have been a big fan of Red Scare for quite some time and are glad to be able to work more closely with them. We think that they are pretty much the best punk rock label on the planet and we think that the world will be a better place with more Red Scare vinyl.

We will begin by releasing the following 4 releases:

Cobra Skulls “Sitting Army”
The Copyrights “Learn the Hard Way”
The Druglords of the Avenues “Sing Songs”
The Sidekicks “So Long, Soggy Dog”

After those 4 releases, we will be working with Red Scare to release another batch of records and don’t be surprised if Sundowner is in that next batch. Let us know what else you would like to see come out on vinyl from Redscare.

I am so excited about this. I love this label and have always asked myself why more of their catalog wasn’t on wax. Be stoked, this is going to be great. We are already working on the Cobra Skulls and Copyrights art and should have those being pressed soon.

PO: BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "Working On A Dream" dbl LP

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN “Working On A Dream” dbl LP

Double vinyl LP pressing including download certificate. 2009 album by one of the finest American songwriters of his generation. Working on a Dream was recorded with the E Street Band and features 12 new Springsteen compositions plus a bonus track: ‘The Wrestler’. . It is the fourth collaboration between Springsteen and Brendan O’Brien, who produced and mixed the album. Springsteen also wrote an eponymous song for Darren Aronofsky’s 2008 film The Wrestler. The song, also titled ‘The Wrestler’ won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song.

It took me a while, but I am a Boss fan. I have listened to this new album once and so far, it sounds good. You can’t beat the old stuff though.

FULL OF FANCY “Sweet Baby Jesus” LP white vinyl
FULL OF FANCY “Sweet Baby Jesus” LP wild berry vinyl

This is the proper vinyl release of Full Of Fancys debut album Sweet Baby Jesus CD that originally came out on Whoa Oh Records about a year ago. Full Of Fancy is a 3 piece female fronted pop punk / twee pop band from New Jersey featuring Miranda of Hunchaback / Ergs! backing vocals fame. Pre-order info for Austin Lucas and Justin Townes Earle

I am really excited to share with you the news that tomorrow, January 27th, we will be posting the pre-order for 2 incredible albums:

Austin Lucas “Somebody Loves You” LP/CD/deluxe set
and
Justin Townes Earle “Midnight at the Movies” LP/CD/Shirts

Austin Lucas, most of you know pretty well and hopefully are as excited as I am about his new album. It is such a powerful and beautiful album and I think people are gonna flip when they hear it. 2009 is gonna be a big year for Austin with a U.S. tour with Tim Barry and Josh Small, a Euro tour with Mike Hale and Josh Small, a split double 7″ with the Takers, and a split 7″ with Frank Turner for Under the Influence. “Somebody Loves You” will be pressed on 2 different colors and will be co-released with Hometown Caravan in Germany.

And Justin Townes Earle put out one of my favorite records of 2008 (“The Good Life”). I have been working really closely with the cool cats at Bloodshot Records to put together a really cool pre-order. We will try carrying the CD, the vinyl, and we will be putting together a handful of sets that have a T-shirt, a poster, and a button. There is also talk of getting a handful of signed CDs and LPs that will go out randomly to customers. Justin plays a great blend of honky tonk Country and Roots Rock and if the stuff I have heard from his upcoming album is any indication, this should be on my tops list of 2009.

2pm Mountain time, be there or be square. More info will be announced when we post the pre-orders.
