Our friends at Punknews have been so kind as to stream the latest albums by both Drag the River and Jon Snodgrass. We can talk and talk about how incredible we think both albums are, but thanks to Punknews, you can listen to both albums for yourself as full album streams:
You can order the physical albums from us now (and for those of you who have pre-ordered the albums, we will soon have the Jon Snodgrass vinyl to ship the deluxe sets). You can also pick up both albums in Itunes, Amazon, Emusic, Rhapsody and whereever digital music is sold.
Please take a listen, we think you will agree that both albums are amazing.
We just got in 5 boxes of Fat Wreck’s finest including the latest from the Loved Ones, the really great “Distractions”. Also, now is a good time to pick up those Propagandhi albums you have been thinking about picking up since their new album was announced. So many great records.
Just a head’s up. We have Jon Snodgrass and Austin Lucas CDs in stock and shipping out. If you have pre-ordered either Jon/Austin vinyl or the deluxe sets, we are still waiting on the vinyl to round out each set. Both are scheduled to ship from San Francisco to us next week which means we should have them by either late next week or Monday the week after. Sorry for the delay, but our pressing plant has been uber busy.
And don’t forget that the Pick 5 and 10 sales include both the Snodgrass and Lucas CDs.
We are working on a new Newsletter format and taking a page out of Itunes’ newsletter, we will be posting our top 10 sales of the week. Here is the tops for the week ending February 23rd. #1 was our pick 5 sale; people enjoy and deserve a good bargain!
Today’s installment of “Song of the Day” is brought to you by our own Brandon Proff.
I chose this song for a couple reasons. It is simply a very good song. Band of Horse’s first record “Everything all the time” was a mainstay in my musical rotation during one of the rougher points of the last few years of my life. it was and still is one of those records that always makes me feel good. I don’t know if it’s the ridiculous amounts of reverb used on everything or what, but it’s just a huge fluffy cloud of sound.
Fast forward to the end of summer 2007. I was living in New York, and a few of my friends and I decide to drive to Northampton, MA to see Modest Mouse and Band of Horses at an outdoor amphitheater called “Look Memorial Park.” We found out upon our arrival that we couldn’t get in to the show (it’s a long story). I was sad, but thanks to it being an outdoor venue we were able to hang out in a huge, beautiful, green park on an awesome summer evening and listen to Band of Horses. That was around the time that I decided to get my life together and move back to Denver, and this song makes me think about that.
Needless to say, when the album “Cease to Begin” was released a few months later, It also moved into my constant rotation and “No One’s Gonna Love you” was just as good as I remember it being at the show.
The song, “No One’s Gonna Love You” is the 3rd track off of “Cease to Begin”. You can download the track here.
As the Song of the Day continues, you can find past installments here. You will also notice that each week’s streaming player will have each Song of the Day added so that by week’s end, there will be 5 songs. We hope you like the track. Thanks Brandon.
Epitaph have made some pretty smart moves with their recent signings after signing a number of questionable acts. New Fond Glory lead the pack of signings like Thursday and Every Time I Die and the great thing is that Bridge 9 were able to continue working with the band by licensing the album for release on vinyl.
Was told by our distributor that copies will be in their hands by next week so we should have copies the following week. Was told that the vinyl will be camo colored (whatever that is) and the record will be housed in a gatefold jacket.
Understand that I was pretty drunk when filming these videos, but I think I caught some really great moments from Jon Snodgrass and Two Cow Garage rocking 3 Kings Tavern. You can see them all at our Youtube Channel, but in case you want to go to a specific video, here are those links:
My buddy Zach was kind enough to film my drunk ass trying to scrape the windows on my car for my kind wife who was our sober designated driver. If you are truly bored, you can see just how drunk I got and how poorly my scraping skills are after boozing.
Second Nature just did a limited edition repress of Rocky’s Self-titled album. We still have a handful of copies from the first pressing, but if you are keeping count, here are the pressing numbers:
Vinyl History: 1st Press: 275 Opaque Dark Blue w/ Black & White Splatter 275 Opaque Yellow/Solid Orange 2 Color Split w/ Solid Red Splatter 2nd Press: 555 Translucent Light Blue
Got in some really great restocks today. A few of the restocks were ones we had a little bit of trouble getting back in stock like Refused, Say Anything, Honorary Title, and NOFX. And if you don’t already own that Man Man record, man oh man is it a good one.
Welcome to our first installment of “Song of the Day”. We hope that over time, this reoccurring post will expose you to artists that might not otherwise be on your radar. For our first Song of the Day, I bring you a track from Bear Vs Shark from their monumental album, “Terrorhawk”. This was their 2nd album on Equal Vision and was certain to launch the Michigan band into the stratosphere. Instead, the band broke up shortly after “Terrorhawk” was released. This my friends is a true shame. I can only imagine the great things this band would have done had they gone on.
A little known fact about Bear Vs. Shark is that they are the band responsible for getting Fear Before the March of Flames signed to Equal Vision. Fear Before were on tour with Bear Vs Shark and B Vs S talked EVR into coming to Boston to see Fear Before play. Introductions were made, friendships continued and this resulted in Fear Before being signed.
Friction Records thankfully licensed the album from Equal Vision and have done a few pressings of the album on vinyl. You can find it in our store here.
The song, “5, 6 Kids” is the 2nd track off of “Terrorhawk”. You can download the track here.
As the Song of the Day continues, you can find past installments here. We hope you like the track.
