Vinyl Collective

Starting today, every week day around 4pm Mountain time, we plan to post a Vinyl Collective “Song of the Day”. In most situations, these song selections will come from your friends at Vinyl Collective, but occasionally we will ask customers, board members, bands, labels, music editors, and others to contribute to the song selection. I just got around to thinking about it and with Vinyl Collective, we have an opportunity to expose you, our friends through music, to great music of all shapes and forms.

The protocol for the Song of the Day is pretty simple. We will post an mp3 (from a legal url) from a record we carry at Vinyl Collective. In almost all the cases, the mp3 will be from an independent artist. We will offer the track for download as well as feature it in a streaming player.

I just ask that no matter how busy you are that you might take 30 seconds and listen to the beginning of each track we post no matter what preconceived thought you have on the band, their sound, or something you think you might have heard.

We hope you like this idea; Someday – and that day may never come – I’ll call upon you to do a service for me(pick a Song of the Day). But until that day, accept this justice as gift from your friends at Vinyl Collective.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the overstock sale we posted last week was a success. We were able to sell a number of records we had way too many copies of. This sale has now concluded, but we will do it again down the road.

Hi friends, so the good news is that we are going to be releasing Mock Orange’s “Captain Love” LP on Vinyl Collective and are really excited about it. We wanted your opinion in helping us to decide how to press this album. Here are what we are trying to decide:

Option A: We release the U.S. version of the album as a single LP and include a bonus 7″ containing the 2 bonus tracks from their Japanese release. LP and 7″ would be housed in a single LP jacket.

Option B: Package the single LP (U.S. version of the album) in a gatefold jacket. This scenario would not include a bonus 7″.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks for your feedback. Brandon is currently working on the art for the album and it is going to look and sound amazing.

We are waiting for the green light from Asian Man headquarters to post this for sale (maybe Tuesday), but I thought I would give all of you a head’s up of what you are getting into. I am working with Mike to offer a full album stream of this album and if everyone at Asian Man and Mr Weasel are cool with it, we are gonna be emailing an mp3 download coupon to the first 100 people who order this record. We hope to do more stuff like this with other titles, too.

I am listening to this on my record player as I type and I feel really bad. When this first came out, I think I was experiencing Pop Punk guilt cause I just couldn’t get into it. I was telling Mike park about this and he suggested I listen with new ears and the album is sounding amazing. There was a point in the late 90′s early 2000′s when Pop Punk was just completely oversaturated and both Joe Queer and Ben Weasel were putting out some of their worst records that I just lost my ears for the genre.

Long story short, this album sounds really great (Storm the Streets is still my favorite Riverdales album), and I highly encourage everyone to pick up a copy when we post them for sale. The pressing info is 100 on black and 400 on Gold/yellow.
