Today’s installment of “Song of the Day” is brought to you by yours truly, Virgil Dickerson.
The Riverboat Gamblers are one of those bands that I always felt like I should be giving a listen to, but for whatever reason never got around to listening to. They toured with lots of bands that I love (Against Me, the Bronx, Eagles of Death Metal) yet I had never seen them play. My good buddy Zach was always singing their praises and the other day, we were at his house brewing beer and he started playing some of their music. I really liked what I heard and took that experience as the final nudge to start listening to their music. Today, I played them for Ralph and asked if he had ever heard them; he said no. As their music was playing, his ears perked up because he thought they were a Country band, not the ripping rock band that they are. There are now 2 new fans at Vinyl Collective so I figured there might be more of you who are yet to lend an ear to the Gamblers.
They have a brand new album, “Underneath The Owl” for pre-order in the VC store, you can find it here.
The song, “A Choppy Yet Sincere Apology” is the 2nd track off of “Underneath The Owl”. You can download the song here after you sign up to the Riverboat Gamblers’ mailing list.
As the Song of the Day continues, you can find past installments here. You will also notice that each week’s streaming player will have each Song of the Day added so that by week’s end, there will be 5 songs. We hope you like the track. Thanks Eddie.
