Vinyl Collective closed down early due to weather

A blizzard has hit Denver pretty hard and due to the weather, I decided to send everyone home and close up shop for the day. Depending on how much more snow we get, we might not open up tomorrow.

I hope everyone is staying nice and warm.

Video: Chad Price "Tobacco Fields/Cathy's Clown"

The other night, Chad Price opened for Tim, Austin, and Josh, and he was amazing. Chad played a bunch of new songs and everyone was absolutely amazing. I am so excited for the day he goes to record his first solo album. I didn’t capture any of the new songs, but I did get “Tobacco Fields” going into “Cathy’s Clown” (an Everly Brothers’ cover). Check out the video. It is agreat. And next week when Chad plays with Frank Turner, I promise to get a new song or two.

Chad has the following upcoming shows:

Thursday, April 2nd at the Marquis Theater w/ Frank Turner and Look Mexico
Friday, April 3rd at the Suburban Home “We Put the F Back Into Art Party”

Mike Hale's For Those Still Standing / Issue Oriented Podcast

Mike Hale’s latest edition of “For Those Still Standing” has just been posted on Punknews. You can read it here. This piece discusses Gunmoll’s recent reunion in Gainesville and his thoughts about his old band. There are videos that document the reunion, too.

Mike Hale, while on tour with In the Red, sat down with Ronen Kauffman of Issue Oriented for episode 41 of one of my favorite podcasts. I should add that this is the podcast that almost didn’t happen. When transferring the audio, Ronen discovered that his memory card was corrupt. Luckily, he had a secondary audio source and was able to salvage the interview. PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS PODCAST. The interview with Mike is really personal and really great. Mike discusses his decision to tour full-time, quit his life as he knows it, and just go for it. The episode also features a very in depth interview with Propagandhi. I highly recommend everyone subscribe to this podcast, check out past episodes (check out the episode I was on, #28), and also pick up Ronen’s very great book, “New Brunswick, New Jersey, Goodbye…” which you can pick up in our store, HERE.

Mike Hale’s 2nd album, “Lives Like Mine” will be available on April 28th, you can see him out on tour all over the United States and Canada in April and May w/ labelmates, Ninja Gun. Mike’s band, In the Red’s newest album, “Volume 2″ will be in stores on March 31st. In the Red just got home from what he said was one of the funnest tours he has ever been on.

Austin Lucas "Somebody Love You" Charts on Billboard Charts

Today, I am excited to share with you the news we just received from Billboard. Austin Lucas’ latest album, “Somebody Loves You”, sold enough copies to chart #7 on the Billboard Top Current Blue Grass/Folk Albums’ Chart. Thanks to everyone who purchased a copy of the album, we are still speechless that the album has done so well. I was stoked to be able to tell Austin on stage at his show in Denver in front of his crowd at 3 Kings.

In our 14 year history, we have only charted on Billboard a few times (Joey Cape, Two Cow Garage, and Tim Barry). For a label that doesn’t have its records in the big box retailers, it makes us so excited when one of our albums can do this.

Austin Lucas is currently on tour with Tim Barry and Josh Small. The tour is amazing; make sure you go see this show. His latest album, “Somebody Loves You”, is available directly from us, at mom and pop retailers, in Hot Topic, and available digitally wherever digital music is sold. You can listen to the entire album on Punknews, too.
