The Riverdales should need no introduction friends. The band is the alter-ego of Screeching Weasel featuring Ben Weasel and Danny Vapid performing punk rock in the vein of the Ramones; this is their first studio offering in quite some time and I for one can’t wait to hear it. “Invasion USA” has inspired Asian Man to release the vinyl on red, white, and blue vinyl. We have 50 sets of al 3 colors available. Each color is being pressed out of an edition of 300 copies. We expect vinyl in July.
This label just recently showed up on my radar, but they are doing a fine job of releasing great punk rock and I highly recommend everyone check out the following releases.
Today, we received the fantastic news that Ninja Gun will be supporting Side One Dummy recording artist, Fake Problems, on their upcoming July/August tour. This leg of the tour starts in St. Louis, Missouri on July 16th, goes West and then South, and ends in Orlando, Florida, on August 6th. This is a huge opportunity for Ninja Gun and honestly, we could not be more excited. Our only regret about this tour is that the Denver date finds most of us from Suburban Home celebrating our good friend Joe’s wedding in the mountains and won’t be able to attend the show at the Larimer Lounge (we are hoping a 2nd Colorado show will be added on July 19th).
You might notice that we have also posted our embeddable streaming player for Ninja Gun’s Restless Rubes. If you have not listened to this album, we urge you to give it a spin. “Restless Rubes” is one of the best Americana influenced Rock albums ever recorded (at least, that is how we feel). If you like what you hear or already a fan, please help us spread the word about this tour and Ninja Gun’s album by embedding this player on your Myspace page, blog, or wherever you can post html code. Please retweet this news and/or email this to someone you think might care. We appreciate your help in sharing this amazing news.

On most afternoons, some segment of our office walks to our neighborhood coffee shop, Studio 6 (on 9th and Santa Fe), to get our afternoon caffeine fix. They make great coffee at affordable prices and everyone there is nice. Little did we know that Mike, our barista, is also a coffee artist. He is one of those folks who can draw portraits in your latte. We went in yesterday to get our afternoon coffee and there was a film crew there filming him do what he does. Little did we know that we would end up on Channel 9 news in the segment. Brandon called me to tell me we were on there and this morning I caught it for myself. 9news.com also has the video streaming so I have it embedded here for your viewing pleasure. You can see Andy and Caroline at the very beginning, then at the end you see Caroline and myself walking out. My Lagrecia shirt got some good face time.
We just got in the new Yesterday’s Ring pint glasses and will be sending out those deluxe sets once we get the vinyl (hoping for tomorrow, but it is more likely next week). We also got in more of the Dillinger Four, Joey Cape, and Ninja Gun Pint Glasses. They are available individually or through our pick 5 and pick 10 sales. I think today is as good as any to update your glassware. There are a lot of other pint glasses to choose from like Austin Lucas, Drag the River, Tim Barry, and more. What would be better than to serve some beers at your house with glasses from some of your favorite bands.
As we have been doing lots of spring cleaning sales and actually organizing our offices, we have been coming across a number of CDs we didn’t know we had. This small batch of cds are various titles from Asian Man and Vagrant. In an attempt to get rid of them, you can buy them from us for $6.99. There are only 1 to 2 of each CD so act fast if you are interested. Remember the entire Suburban Home catalog is available as $5.00 CDs. Get those CDs you have been on the fence about and while you are at it, get doubles for those friends less fortunate than you (who continue to listen to the same 5 CDs every day).
Our friend through music, Dustin Garrett, was so kind to offer his silk-screening services; we took him up and asked him to print silk-screened covers for the Austin Lucas test pressings. He did an incredible job as you can see from the photos. If you have previously purchased or won one of these test pressings, we will be sending you the jacket. If you are interested in purchasing a test pressing, we have one for sale in our store right now and we just posted a test pressing on Ebay (starting bid is 99 cents). These jackets look absolutely amazing and really make us consider doing this for all of our test pressings.

The sale is pretty simple, we will be selecting 10 LPs (of our choice) plus random 7″s for $30. We will also be offering a small number of sales where we will be selecting 20 LPs (of our choice) plus random 7″s for $50. The photo shows the LPs we will be selecting from. WE WILL NOT BE TAKING ANY SUGGESTIONS. We are hoping to make some room in our warehouse while greatly improving your record collection. We will posted 100 10 LP sales and 50 20 LP sales. We realize that you may already own a number of the records in this sale, but with the doubles, you can trade your friends for other good records OR hell give the doubles to someone who doesn’t collect vinyl and spread the love. Everyone wins!
The photo represents the records we will be choosing from. There are 34 records in the picture and you can win all 34 records if you are the first person to either correctly identify all 34 records or if no one can correctly identify all 34 records, the person who comes closest to picking all 34 records by late next week.
Enter to win by emailing Seabron with the subject line “THOSE CATS AT VINYL COLLECTIVE ARE CRAZY, CONTEST”
Sam Lowry and T-Bone (5-22-09) – Our new friend, Sam Lowry (pictured on the right), stopped by our offices while on his way to visit a friend in Ft Collins. He is driving out to meet Langhorne Slim who he is about to do a tour with. For those of you who don’t know Sam’s music, we highly recommend you check him out if you are a fan of Nick Cave, Murder by Death, or William Whitmore. We announced last week the pre-order for Sam’s split 7″ with Will (as Wayword Sons) and am so excited to work with both artists. While Sam was in town, he gave me a box of CDs of his new album which we will be posting on the site shortly for sale. I encourage everyone to pick up a copy. T-Bone is the nickname that I gave Dylan Gibson, one I have been trying to make stick for 2 years now. If you know Dylan, please refer to him as T-Bone, introduce him to others as T-Bone, and help me make this his name. T-Bone just got back home from a really successful tour with 3oh3; he does merch for them and occassionally plays bass with them on certain songs. Thanks guys for stopping by the office. Sam, sorry I won’t be at your Denver show, I hope your tour with LS goes great.
