If it isn’t obvious Already, we At Vinyl Collective Are very fond of well mAde beer. In doing so we have become very fond of some of the local breweries in ColorAdo, and one of those breweries hAppens to be Odell brewing in Ft. Collins.

To mAke A long story short, over the pAst month Odell hAs been brewing A beer who’s every detAil wAs chosen by poll via twitter. One of us becAme a little obsessed over the outcome of the polling (BrAndon) And After deciding to brew a  GermAn schwArzbier And nAming it “BlAckbird” it has come down the the finAl poll to decide the design of the tAp handle which will be unveiled At the BlAckbird releAse pArty on MAy 30th.

The Takers “Taker Easy” [mp3]

We are so fucking excited to be putting out the debut album for the Takers and we can’t wait for you to hear the title track from the album. The song, “Taker Easy” might be my favorite song from the album, although there are about 3 or 4 songs that take that distinction depending on the day. The song gives you a pretty good taste of what to expect and for me, the album reminds me of the Country and Western my dad played for me in his pickup truck. He would actually be rolling over in his grave if he knew we worked with bands like the Takers. As a kid, I had no love for the genre, but it is funny how your life takes you down a lot of different paths and at the end, you find yourself loving the music you once hated.

I said it before, I’ll say it again. The Takers are Suburban Home’s Outlaw Country band. They should be sent back in time to share the stage with, Johnny, and Waylon, but lucky for us, they are a band now. I love this band, I love this record, and I hope you might consider taking a listen. If you like what you hear, please consider downloading the track and sharing it with others. Put it on a mix tape, send the link to friends, post it on your blog. And while you are at it, make sure you pre-order their upcoming album (and while you are there, don’t forget their Curse of a Drunk 7″ and their split with Austin Lucas).

Ralph just put the finishing touches on one of the most badass posters I have ever set my eyes on. We love the poster so much and are certain that you, too, will love it. We are hoping to make some room in our warehouse while greatly improving your record collection. We will be posting 100 10 LP sales and 50 20 LP sales tomorrow at 2pm Mountain Standard. We realize that you may already own a number of the records in this sale, but with the doubles, you can trade your friends for other good records. Everyone wins!

It was recently suggested that we should post sales numbers for our weekly top 10 sales. I gave it a lot of consideration and was concerned that in our slow weeks, it might reflect poorly on how many copies we are capable of selling. Then, I thought, “Fuck It”, if its numbers the people want, it is numbers they get. I know that I geek out on the soundscan indie charts and without seeing the numbers, it would not be as exciting.

As you might guess, this week’s top seller is the Chuck Ragan/Brian Fallon split 7″. At 343 sold, we will soon be sold out of the split. If you are thinking about getting a copy, don’t waste another second. I expect it will sell out this week. Stoked to see a bunch of our releases on the chart as well. If you were to add up the Jon Snodgrass/Cory Branan variants, that release would be #2, but I am happy to see all of the releases doing well.
