THE REVEREND PEYTON’S BIG DAMN BAND “The Whole Fam Damnily” LP

One of the greatest labels in punk rock have a really big vinyl release date, July 21st, and I mentioned it the other day, but there are some really great records for Pre-order. You can group in the Broadway Calls’ new 7″ with these releases which has already been posted. This new list includes an epic 7″ between Chuck Ragan and Brian Fallon; Chuck’s song comes from his upcoming album due out in August. Brian’s track is one that has been streaming on his Myspace page. Kevin Seconds and Mike Hale are good friends and it was only a matter of time before they did a split 7″. Stoked that Side One is putting this out. Big D has a brand new album that finds them entering new musical territories. And the Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band is a tour de force that was meant to be put out on wax. Get these records while you can, they won’t be around for a long time.

These are pre-orders expected to ship around the middle of July. Thanks Side One for the exclusive colors. You rule!

O PIONEERS!!! “Neon Creeps” CASSETTE

Mightier Than Sword just sent us 2 of their newest releases, The Last Lights “No Past, No Present, No Future” LP, and the O Pioneers!!! “Neon Creeps” Cassette. I have to say that the Last Lights LP is one of the nicest packages I have seen in a while. It has a book that rests nicely in the left pocket of the gatefold jacket. Expect photos soon. The O Pioneers!!! are favorites of ours, Neon Creeps, is their greatest release, and now you can get it on cassette.

TP/PO: THE SLACKERS "Better Late Than Never" LP+ 7"

THE SLACKERS “Better Late Than Never” LP+ 7″ black vinyl
THE SLACKERS “Better Late Than Never” LP+ 7″ white vinyl

From our good friends at Asbestos Records comes the vinyl release of “Better Late Than Never”. Better Late Than Never was the album that brought NYC’s The Slackers to international acclaim, the debut album that started the multi-decade career of one of Ska’s greatest bands. If you are a Slackers fan or a music fan you have to have this one in your collection. Includes those fabulous songs that still dominate the request lines globally such as “Sarah”, “Sooner or Later”, and “Pedophilia”. So do yourself a favor and add this flavor, you won’t be sorry.

Pressing info is as follows:
150 – black vinyl
350 – white vinyl

We are expecting the vinyl for this great album by the end of July. Pre-order the album for a chance to win a test pressing. Good luck.

If you pre-order this record with the other Slackers’ record(s), you will have to wait til the end of July to receive the order. Order separately if you want the other Slackers’ records more quickly.

PO: THE SLACKERS "An Afternoon In Dub" LP

THE SLACKERS “An Afternoon In Dub” LP

This shouldn’t need any introduction. The SLACKERS are one of the greatest and best-loved ska bands of all time. Here is the vinyl release from this collection of remixes and after-hour studio takes.

If you are a big Slackers’ fan, don’t jump on this pre-order just yet, we will be posting a pre-order for the THE SLACKERS “Better Late Than Never” LP+ 7″ that Asbestos is releasing right after this pre-order (but know that we will more than likely get “An Afternoon in Dub” in about a week and “Better Late Than Never” won’t be here til late July.

PO: THE AMISTAD /ABOVE THEM split 7" blue vinyl plus free Beer Mat

THE AMISTAD /ABOVE THEM split 7″ blue vinyl

Four Exclusive Tracks from two of Yorkshire’s finest bands …..Pre-orders come with two exclusive beer mats! Maybe you guys in the UK can tell me what a Beer Mat is, here is the image for it:

beermatsgif

Not familiar with the acts myself, here are what a few reviews say of the bands:
“The Amistad’s great driving punk rock with the emphasis on melody, energy and a tunefulness that’s not a million miles away from Jawbreaker. Formed from the ashes of the pretty-damn-good Four Dumb Kids, it’s obvious these guys have a lot of promise” – www.roidh.co.uk

“Above Them just keep on getting better and better. This band is going to be huge, mark my words. Think early Kids Near Water and Hundred Reasons, think a mix of Small Brown Bike and Spy Vs Spy and you won’t be far wrong.” – 8/10 DIE SHELLSUIT, DIE!

Could be good. We expect the records by late June.

SH/VC announce First Friday party on June 5th (NEW LOCATION,BEER SPONSOR!)

CLICK THE FLIER TO ENLARGE IT.

There comes a day when certain individuals become more adult-like and begin to abandon their child-like tendencies. Luckily, I mention this not because I ever plan to grow up, but our little First Friday parties are experiencing a bit of a transformation. Starting with our June first Friday, we will be partnering with what we think is one of the greatest design firms on the planet (Legwork) and as such, we will be helping host the parties at their kick ass offices (look for address below). We will no longer be serving 40′s, Mad Dog 20/20, or Boone’s Farm (I know, tis a sad day). We have good news though, our friends at Oskar Blues Brewery (the best damn brewery in the world, in our opinion) will be sponsoring our parties which means there will be Mama’s Little Yellow Pils, Gordon, Old Chub, and Dale’s Pale Ale. They are also gonna help us get Whiskey from Stranahan’s Whiskey (amazing Colorado Whiskey). Because Oskar Blues has gotten involved, we have decided to abandon the other crap we gave out mostly as a joke to see who would drink it (and later get a hangover).

Here is all the important information, please put this in your calendar now; you no longer have to worry about what you are doing on Friday, June 5th:

Date: Friday, June 5th, 6pm to 10pm
Where: 2342 Broadway St, Denver, CO (across the street from the Jesus Saves building)
Artists: Brandon Proff and Zach Clark
Who is Playing: Scooter James (of Love Me Destroyer), and Andy Thomas (of Only Thunder)
Beer provided by Oskar Blues, Food will also be served.

See you there!

Visitors to VC: Brook Pridemore, Dan from Crafty, Vikesh Kapoor

Brook Pridemore, Dan Crafty, Vikesh Kapoor (5-20-09) – Dan, mastermind of Crafty Records (far right) was in town with one of his artists, Brook Pridemore (middle) and Vikesh Kapoor (far left) who plays with Brook. I had previously met Dan at the Fest, he is a super nice guy and he has a great label. He has put out some killer vinyl for Ghost Mice/Brook Pridemore, The Steinways, Unlovables, Mischief Brew, Chris Clavin, and more. After talking yesterday, it was agreed that we should do a Crafty Records’ Spring Cleaning Sale. Expect that shortly (records will be 30 to 50 percent off til the end of the month). And when Dan emails me the info, we will be putting up for sale a really neat idea for CD compilation, Thanks for the Floor. More on that soon. Brook is on tour and I highly recommend you check them out. Brook bought a few records, we swapped some hoodies, and chatted a bit. Vikesh will be putting out his own 2 song 7″ soon so keep an eye out for that. These guys seem like they have a great attitude about independent music and are doing some cool things in New York. Nice folks all around.

Check out other visitors to VC here.
