2 for Tuesday (Andy Shauf “Darker Days” & Damion Suomi “S/T” LP) 2 for 1

Today, we bring you the 2nd edition of the 2 for Tuesday and if you missed out on the first one (Jon Snodgrass/Joey Cape), you blew it! Just kidding. Today though we bring you 2 incredible singer/songwriters that might not be on your radar, Damion Suomi and Andy Shauf. Both artists call P is for Panda their label and if you don’t know much about this label, you should. They are releasing some great records and luckily for us, they are all about vinyl. Chad who runs P is for Panda helped start Militia Group back in the day and has since focused on finding some of the best singer/songwriters on the planet. Not only that, but a portion of P is for Panda sales go towards charity.

We urge you to listen to both albums. Andy Shauf reminds me of the Smoking Popes a bit while Damion Suomi reminds me of REM with a little bit of Counting Crows. I like both albums a lot and think a number of you will too.

We are selling both LPs for $14.99. You have one week to take advantage of these prices and after that, this is the price you will pay for each record. Check out the 2 streaming players, share them with others, and then take advantage of these great deals.

We have a test pressing contest for those of you who pre-order these records. And later we will be announcing a really cool test pressing contest for both records that involve us and Twitter. Stay tuned.  Thanks Chad and Hopeless for your help in making this 2 for Tuesday happen. Everyone, take advnatage of these prices for these amazing records.

We are so excited to share with you a new project we came up with recently, the Vinyl Collective Sessions. It was our idea that it would be cool to share with you the experience of listening to one of our vinyl releases and along with playing the record, we figured it would be great to do a beer pairing with the particular record combining our love for music and beer. For the very first edition, we thought we would play for you a record that we think might be the greatest sounding record we have ever put out, Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground’s self-titled double LP. The beer we paired with this record is Fort by Dogfish Head brewery. It is a raspberry ale that comes in at 18 percent alcohol. It’s not a beer you would want to slam, but savor and enjoy while playing a fine record. We recommend you invite a friend over and share the bomber of Fort while listening to Kay Kay’s masterpiece. For this session, we just played 2 tracks, the intro track “Into the Realm of the Unknown” and the 2nd track, “Hey Momma”.

When people ask me why vinyl, I can now just point them to these videos. Even with a standard mic on a video camera, you cannot deny the fidelity involved with playing a record. Tell me that the packaging isn’t amazing. And listening to records is much more of an event than just putting on your IPod in the background. We hope you enjoy this first Vinyl Collective Session.

Recreate your own Vinyl Collective session by purchasing this record and this beer.

JAWBREAKER – Dear You 2xLP

Alright friends, get em while their hot. We just got word from our distributor that they are doing a repress of Jawbreaker’s Dear You double LP. This time, I was able to talk them into giving us 100 copies. I don’t yet know how many they repressed, but as with older represses, these will be history before you know it. And if you don’t already have a copy of this record, it is my favorite jawbreaker album (24 hour revenge therapy is a close 2nd).

GREEN DAY “Nimrod” LP reissue
GREEN DAY “Warning” LP reissue

So there’s this band called Green Day, you might have heard of them. Their major label has taken the task of reissuing all of the band’s back-catalog on vinyl and here are the next two in line. The Nimrod pre-order should have gone up like a few weeks ago as I think the record is now out. I just placed my order and should have copies late this week or early next week. “Warning” isn’t due til late July/early August, but the baffling thing is that Adeline’s version of the Warning vinyl on Green is still in print. I spoke to Adeline and they still have a decent amount of copies. If I were you, I’d get it on green on Adeline as this major label version should be in print for some time to come. Speaking of Adeline, we still have copies available of “American Idiot” which will soon get the re-release via Warner. By summer’s end, it will be possible to get pretty much all of the Green Day catalog on vinyl.

Here are some of the other Green Day titles, we have in stock:

GREEN DAY “21st Century Breakdown” LP
GREEN DAY “39 Smooth” LP + dbl 7″
GREEN DAY “American Idiot” dbl LP
GREEN DAY “Dookie” 180 gram vinyl
GREEN DAY “Insomniac!” LP
GREEN DAY “Kerplunk!” LP + 7″
GREEN DAY “Minority” 7″
GREEN DAY “Nimrod” LP reissue
GREEN DAY “Waiting” 7″ pink marble vinyl
GREEN DAY “Warning” 7″ clear gold vinyl
GREEN DAY “Warning” LP green vinyl

THRIFT STORE COWBOYS/ONE WOLF “Nothing/Everything’s On Fire” split 7″

Lubbock, TX’s own Thrift Store Cowboys and One Wolf each contribute a brand new song to the debut release on Mt. Inadale Records. TSC’s dramatic and haunting tale, “Nothing”, plays perfectly with One Wolf’s guitar driven anthem, “Everything’s on Fire”. The split marks the first time on vinyl for both bands. The records come in screenprinted jackets and are hand numbered. Edition of 500.

THE SMITHS “Strangeways, Here We Come” LP 180 gram vinyl
THE SMITHS “The Queen Is Dead” LP 180 gram vinyl
THE SMITHS “Meat Is Murder” LP 180 gram vinyl
THE SMITHS “S/T” LP 180 gram vinyl

You may or may not know this, but I celebrate the Smiths’ entire catalog. I from time to time subject the office to 2 hour blocks of the Smiths and only get a few complaints when I do. The Smiths’ back catalog will be back in print on vinyl in August. The records were remastered and the sessions were supervised by Johnny Marr. The records are getting repressed on 180 gram vinyl. I am pretty excited to have these records and listen to them all. They are a bit pricey, but it has been some time since all of these records have been easily available.
