EYES AND EARS "Howl At The Moon" 7" black vinyl

EYES AND EARS “Howl At The Moon” 7″ black vinyl

Eyes and Ears are a great Denver band featuring some close friends of ours. Mike from Eyes and Ears actually helps us pack orders at Vinyl Collective. I describe their sound as the Pixies meets Rocket from the Crypt. They are always a blast to see live and they recently released a new 7″. I highly recommend everything they do and encourage you to at least check out a few songs on their Myspace page.

Our friend Dustin has commenced printing the In the Red/Anchor Down/Bastards of Young/Drunken Boat jackets and was kind enough to share this photo with us. You might know him as Geezfools on our message board, but lately he has been helping us to make really great silk-screened jackets. According to Dustin, the jackets will be done this week.

If you haven’t pre-ordered the record, check out this link.

Check out the “Gasp Asp” in the background. Dustin recently did test pressing jackets for Gasp Asp.

Blurt speaks with Yesterday's Ring, stream the album

Our good buddy and busy freelance writer, John Moore, just published an interview he did for Yesterday’s Ring. Yeserday’s Ring recently released “Diamonds in the Ditch” on Suburban Home and John spoke with Hugo of YR about how they approach songwriting for Yesterday’s Ring and how that might be different than he writes for Sainte Catherines. Check out the feature and find out the future plans of Sainte Catherines and Hugo’s thoughts on why so many punk rockers have taken to Country/Americana leanings.

MUSE “Absolution” dbl LP

Looks as though the other 2 Muse records we have been taking pre-orders on have been pushed back til August, Origina of Symmetry and Showbiz. Found that out at the same time that I found out that we are getting copies of “Black Holes and Revelations” and “Absolution”. The release date is in August, I think August 23rd. If you are adding these to your other Muse pre-orders and want to combine them to save on shipping, just email info at suburban home records dot com after placing your order for these records. I recommend you start with “Absolution”, that is my favorite Muse record.

Stoked to see all these Willie records being reissued. My Willie collection is sorely lacking and after having read a Willie biography, I have attained super fan status. These records will be released in August.

video: Vinyl Collective Arrivals V4 (Kay Kay,Lemuria,Off With Their Heads,In the Red)

The 4th volume of this very unorganized video series finds your friend through music, Virgil Dickerson (who needs a haircut) thinking this is the 3rd volume. We show you the latest pressing of Kay Kay and HIs Weathered Underground’s s/t double LP, the first volume of In the Red volume 1.5.1 7″, and the 7th volume of the Under the Influence series with Lemuria and Off With their Heads. I quickly discuss upcoming vinyl releases we are working and have a little Michael Jackson related contest.

I highly recommend you watch this video not because it is a good video but because we reveal some of the vinyl projects we are working on.

And once again, we bring you a way too easy contest. Watch the video for details.

Two of my favorite people on the planet, Mike Hale and Coody from Ninja Gun, gets interviewed while on tour in Toronto for Exclaim magazine. Check it out, the video is pretty short and you get some nice insight from both Mike and Coody.

As most of you know, Mike Hale has dedicated his life to the road. Most of that time will be spent performing solo, but whenever possible, In the Red, will also be touring. While Mike was wrapping up a tour with Ninja Gun, we had been talking about finding a good tour for In the Red to do in July and as fate would have it our friends in Anchor Down were putting together a tour with Bastards of Young and Drunken Boat. The routing we had planned ran into their tour so it came up why not do the tour together. Luckily for us, the bands on the tour were ok with adding another band and as the tour got finalized, we also discussed the possibility of a tour 7″. It really is amazing that all 4 bands either had a song or were recording a new song and that this all came together as quickly as it did. The In the Red track, “Here We All Die” was from a session in between the recordings of Volume 1 and Volume 2. As you might guess, the sound fits somewhere in between, too. The other tracks were recorded recently specifically for this 4 way split and let me say that all 4 songs are fantastic. I had already been a big fan of Anchor Down and their track is excellent. I wasn’t as familiar with Bastards of Young or Drunken Boat, but their songs are amazing and they can both count me as a fan now. This is an excellent record.

The pressing info is a little confusing. Let me start by explaining that there are 4 different colors of jackets for the silk-screened jackets (250 of each). Each band picked a color of paper : In the Red (Cherry), Anchor Down (Grey), Bastards of Young (Ivory), and Drunken Boat (Canary). The vinyl will be pressed out of an edition of 1,000 copies (300 on red vinyl, 700 on black vinyl). So for you mathletes out there, the breakdown will be

75 Red vinyl on Cherry paper, 75 Red vinyl on Grey paper, 75 Red vinyl on Ivory paper, 75 Red vinyl on Canary Paper
175 Black vinyl on Cherry paper, 175 Black vinyl on Grey paper, 175 Black vinyl on Ivory paper, 175 Black vinyl on Canary Paper

Understand that we did not do this to make people buy more than one version (or 8 variants), but it was suggested that on the tour, it would be cool if each band had their own version of the record. I opted not to sell a set with all 8 variants either because I did not want to encourage buying all 8. I do encourage you buy one copy as the record is bad ass.

Track Listing:
In the Red “Here We All Die”
Anchor Down “All Perfume”
Bastards of Young “Earthquake Weather”
Drunken Boat “Hell Freezes Over”

Pre-order this record and enter for a chance to win a test pressing. We should have copies of the vinyl by late July, early August.
