TP/N: HOOTS & HELLMOUTH "The Holy Open Secret" LP 180 gram SIGNED vinyl

HOOTS & HELLMOUTH “The Holy Open Secret” LP 180 gram vinyl signed copy

Philadelphia-based Hoots & Hellmouth creates new music for old souls. Their second full-length effort, The Holy Open Secret, on MAD Dragon Records (Ryko/WEA) and continues to blaze a trail forward in the name of progressive revival. Rob Berliner, Andrew Gray and Sean Hoots return as the core trio of string slingers and harmonious vocalizers, co-producing in collaboration with Bill Moriarty (Dr. Dog, Man Man) at Philadelphia s American Diamond Studio. The results speak for themselves in tones ranging from the triumphant to the dulcet.

We received 27 copies all of which were signed by the band and most of them have interesting things written on each one. That is very cool. We also received a signed test pressing that one lucky person will get. You can enter to win by purchasing a copy of this album. Good luck.

TP/PO: GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV "This Empty Northern Hemisphere" LP brown vinyl

GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV “This Empty Northern Hemisphere” LP brown vinyl

Friends, we are excited to announce the pre-order for the vinyl for Gregory Alan Isakov’s brilliant album, “This Empty Northern Hemisphere”. Gregory self-released the album on CD and digitally and since helping him out with distribution and loving his album, we suggested helping co-release the vinyl. The record has been drawing praise from all over getting comparisons to Rocky Votolato, Iron and Wine, Nick Drake, and Bob Dylan. Gregory has toured with Brandi Carlile (who sings on over half of the album), Indigo Girls (who are huge fans of Gregory), and soon will be touring with Ani Difranco. I can’t recommend this album enough.

Please listen to the streaming player we have set up for “This Empty Northern Hemisphere”. Let us know what you think. The LP pressing will be out of an edition of 500 copies split equally between Gregory and Suburban Home. The vinyl will come with a digital download coupon. Greg will be playing an LP release party on Saturday, October 17th at the Bluebird Theater.

We expect to receive the vinyl by the end of September. Pre-orders will be entered for a chance to win a test pressing.

Stream/Share “This Empty Northern Hemisphere”. Enjoy.

If you haven’t pre-ordered them yet, I highly recommend you do so sooner than later.

While we are on the topic of the Under the Influence series, here is the streaming player for Volumes 1 through 10. Enjoy. Know that sooner than later, we hope to release volumes 1 through 10 as a full length on CD and very limited double LP. Stay tuned.

Keep up on the Under the Influence series at this link.

Vinyl Collective Wants to Carry Your Releases (Vinyl,CDs,Digital)

We here at Vinyl Collective/Suburban Home want to carry your releases. If you are a smaller label, band who self-released your own record(s), or hell bigger label, get in touch with us. We currently deal directly with nearly 150 different labels and bands and want to work with everyone out there. Even if you only have 1 release, even if all you have released are CDs, we want to carry your releases. If you know someone who runs a label and they don’t have their releases in our store, please pass the word onto them. If you are a label or artist interested in us carrying your releases, visit this link. It’s an online form to get us the information on your records.

We want to carry your vinyl and your CDs and in the near future carry your digital releases.

We report sales to Soundscan if your titles are registered with them, we have tools in place to help promote your releases, and we are a retailer that genuinely wants to help you get your records to other people. Don’t waste another day, visit this link.

This PSA brought to you by your friends at Vinyl Collective and Suburban Home.

Pick 5 for $25 (get 5 free CDs), pick 10 for $50 (get 10 free CDs)

Suburban Home Pick 10 for $50 Sale +10 FREE CDs (CDs, Pint Glasses)

Suburban Home Pick 5 for $25 Sale + 5 FREE CDs (CDs, Vinyl, Pint Glasses)

You may or may not have previously purchased one of our Pick 5 or Pick 10 sales before, but regardless of having done so before, I encourage you to take advantage of the already great deal with a bonus offer. For a limited time, you can purchase the Pick 5 for $25 sale and get 5 Bonus CDs of our choice for free or the Pick 10 for $50 sale and get 10 bonus CDs for free! The way the deal works is you can pretty much pick from any available Suburban Home CDs, available Suburban Home pint glasses, select Suburban Home/Vinyl Collective LPs, and Shotgunators. Pick any 5 for $25, any 10 for $50 and help us out by clearing out space in our warehouse. That ends up breaking down to $2.50 an item with either deal.

Stock up on Drag the River CDs, Ferret vinyl, Pint Glasses, or a combination of a little of everything. We at Suburban Home do not believe in spending $15 for a CD in a mall store or big box retailer and if enough people took advantage of these types of deals through us, it could be enough to keep things going well. If just 100 people took advantage of these deals, we could clear out a couple thousand CDs!

We recently added The Takers “Taker Easy” CD, Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground “S/t” CD, and the Jon Snodgrass/Cory Branan LP to the pick 5 and pick 10 sales.

Dave from Fireworks and Dave (tour manager of the Swellers, did merch for Set Your Goals) (8-26-09) – I left early yesterday and while I was gone, Dave and Dave stopped by the office to pick up some records and shoot the shit. Fireworks are on tour with Polar Bear Club, Set Your Goals, and Four Year Strong. Dave #2 (w/ the beard) had come here before while on tour with the Swellers and was in town doing merch for Set Your Goals. He brought Dave #1 (w/o beard) with him who is out on tour with his band Fireworks. Andy said both dudes were super nice; hopefully I will be around the next time you guys come visit. Dave #2, bring Pareamore over to the office next time you are in town!

AOTU Single Series 41,42,43 (Noise By Numbers,Stymie,Sloane Peterson)

NOISE BY NUMBERS “Single Series Volume 43″ 7″
STYMIE “Single Series Volume 42″ 7″
SLOANE PETERSON “Single Series Volume 41″ 7″

I can’t say it often enough; this is such an amazing 7″ series. Talk about D.I.Y. methods to produce records, this series was done in such a smart manner. The records are on black vinyl, the covers remain the same except for a rubber stamp mentioning the artist and the number in the series. And Alex from Art of the Underground has a knack for finding incredible bands before most people have any clue about them. Take for example #41,#42, and #43 which includes what I think is the first release by Noise By Numbers a great new Chicago band with Danny Vapid. I am not familiar with Stymie or Sloane Peterson, but from the descriptions fans of Screeching Weasel, the LIllingtons, and Toys that Kill will love these records. We only got 10 of each and only 350 of each were pressed.

Thanks AOTU for having us involved with these records.
