MURDER BY DEATH “FINCH, Original, Instrumental Soundtrack” CD PRE-ORDER

Suburban Home is excited to announce that we are helping distribute Murder by Death’s latest project, an instrumental score for a Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror novel, “Finch”, written by best selling author Jeff Vandermeer. We have the album up for pre-order in our store now and will help distribute the album to independent distributors and stores all over the world. We are absolutely stoked as we love Murder By Death and think that this is such an interesting project to put together.

Murder By Death explains the project:
“Murder By Death are excited to announce a new project! their involvement in the instrumental soundtrack to a book called “Finch” by Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror author Jeff Vandermeer. Jeff approached Murder By Death about doing a soundtrack to go with the limited edition of his new book, and we thought it was such a strange idea we had to do it. The book reminds us of Bladerunner- with spore-faced bad guys. Bitchin’. We locked ourselves up in our friend’s studio (Farm Fresh) here in Bloomington, IN for 5 days and wrote and recorded an instrumental album inspired by the book. Our old pianist Vincent Edwards lent his hand(s) at the piano, organs, and Rhodes. Each song is attempting to recreate a scene or mood from the book. We are putting this out on our label Tent Show records.”

Murder by Death are a Bloomington, Indiana based band who have released albums on Vagrant, Eyeball, and Tent Show. They are currently involved in a 7″ series where they cover and are covered by bands they are close with. This 7″ series has included William Elliott Whitmore, Amanda Palmer, and O Death. Murder by Death are currently on tour with The Gaslight Anthem, Loved Ones, and a number of support acts.

Finch will be Jeff Vandermeer’s 5th Novel. Jeff has also written a number of collections including the best selling City of Saints and Madmen. This isn’t Jeff’s first foray into accompanying his book with an original soundtrack as “Shriek” featured an original soundtrack scored by the Church. Currently, Vanermeer is writing a Predator tie-in novel for Dark Horse Comics called “Predator: South China”.

In Finch, mysterious underground inhabitants known as the gray caps have reconquered the failed fantasy state Ambergris and put it under martial law. They have disbanded House Hoegbotton and are controlling the human inhabitants with strange addictive drugs, internment in camps, and random acts of terror. The rebel resistance is scattered, and the gray caps are using human labor to build two strange towers. Against this backdrop, John Finch must solve an impossible double murder for his gray cap masters while trying to make contact with the rebels. Nothing is as it seems as Finch and his disintegrating partner Wyte negotiate their way through a landscape of spies, rebels, and deception. Trapped by his job and the city, Finch is about to come face to face with a series of mysteries that will change him and Ambergris forever
