Chad Price Brewery Tour Video Episode 1 – Odell Brewery

Brandon Proff brought a video camera with us on the Chad Price Brewery Tour and captured some amazing footage. Yes, that was me spilling my 2nd beer of the day, the very delicious Bourbon Stout by Odell (if you haven’t had it, get it, it is one of the greatest beers I’ve had all year). Each episode will feature 2 songs from Chad plus some extra footage. This one has footage of our RV, our driver, and our crew. Please check it out and expect 7 more volumes over the next 2 months.

Thanks Odell. We love you and can’t wait to come back.

POs: NOFX "Cokie The Clown", "My Orphan Year" 7"s

NOFX “Cokie The Clown” 7″
NOFX “My Orphan Year” 7″

Continually bucking convention and invariably doing things their own way, NOFX are once again defying the norm. Recently, when the band recorded their latest full-length, Coaster, they ended up with five too many songs to fit on the album. Instead of embracing the traditional approach of releasing the extra songs as a teaser in order to promote their then upcoming full-length, NOFX opted to save five of the best songs from the session and release them months later as an ep titled Cokie the Clown. Cokie the Clown is sort of the crème brulee to the filet mignon that is Coaster; an irresistibly tempting and equally satisfying final course. The songs on Cokie are everything that loyal fans have come to expect and crave, with fast riffs, catchy melodies, and thought provoking lyrics. And, to further increase the collectability of Cokie the Clown, NOFX decided to do a vinyl version of the songs by way of two separate 7”s, the first sharing the same name as the cd and the second titled My Orphan Year (vinyl nerds, steady yourselves!). It pretty much goes without saying that this ep will be gobbled up by the thousands of adoring NOFX fans.

PO: V/A "Wrecktrospective" 3xCD boxset (w/ Fat Club CD)

V/A “Wrecktrospective” 3xCD

After 20 years as one of the premiere independent labels, as well as punk rock’s most admired, Fat Wreck Chords has amassed an extraordinary catalog of artists and releases. Label founder Fat Mike (singer/songwriter of NOFX) consistently adhered to an ethos of putting out releases that always measured up to listeners’ expectations. The result was an unspoken guarantee to fans through which Fat Wreck Chords became a coveted brand name and the gold standard among punk labels. With multiple releases from heavyweights Lagwagon, Propagandhi, No Use For a Name, Strung Out, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Descendents, Anti-Flag, Against Me, and Rise Against, Fat managed to cultivate and evolve a recognizable sound in music. Having issued more than 280 releases over the course of the label’s first 20 years in the business, it is a daunting task to try to encapsulate Fat’s rich history into a box set.

Nonetheless, that is what we attempted to do with WRECKTROSPECTIVE. Three discs and a huge booklet render a view of Fat Wreck Chords’ journey along the path of its storied existence. The first disc is a sampling of the label’s greatest hits. The second disc contains an array of all unreleased demos and rarities. The third disc is the limited release Fat Club 7” series in its entirety. Finally, the booklet provides an oral history of sorts, chock-full of stories from band members, as well as a timeline of all Fat’s releases. The box set as a whole is an essential piece of punk rock history, a must-have for fans, and a hallmark of the dominating influence Fat Wreck Chords had in shaping a genre.

More Lawrence Arms "Butt Sweat and Tears" 7"s

LAWRENCE ARMS “Buttsweat And Tears” 7″

Here’s a quick update for you, the 7″s are behind schedule, but they are in production now. We were sold out for a bit and just got the ok to get 100 more. Get your copies now before they are gone forever. Remember the word on the street is that there will only be a small amount of colored copies available at Lawrence Arms’ show and everything else will be on black vinyl.

Wait a minute though as we will shortly be posting the pre-order for the next 2 NOFX 7″s and a killer Fat Wreck CD box set.

Photos: TIM BARRY/FRANK TURNER split 7"

No there were not supposed to be pink copies of this 7″. There was a little miscommunication with the pressing plant and instead of getting 1,000 red copies, there are about 500 red and 500 pink copies. I know that some of you who collect Tim Bary and Frank Turner variants are gonna want whatever color you don’t end up with and my word of advice is that you will have to pick up copies from Tim or Frank out on the road or through the Epitaph store. The only red/pink copies we will ship are the ones sold through the sets of 3 colors we previously sold. The blue and the black vinyl are still available though.

Photos: PORTUGAL THE MAN "It's Complicated Being a Wizard"

We finally got all the pieces for the Portugal the Man “It’s Complicated Being a Wizard” and I could not be happier with how everything turned out.  The printed and silk-screened jackets look amazing. the vinyl and it’s etching look perfect (not photographed so you can wait to see it with your own eyes). Everyone shoudl be stoked at how these turn out.

Photos: CHAD PRICE "Smile Sweet Face"

Although it is hard to see, the top photo is brown vinyl. The jackets were sent to the wrong location, but luckily, we got the vinyl in time for Chad’s album release shows.

User JMSmith is back and has a really great list of records for sale. I chose the above photo for the post as I love that their right foot is in the photo. Someone will have to get the user name RightFoot and every photo they submit will have their foot in the picture as their stamp of approval.

I can already say that JMSmith is on top of it. They have sent out records in a timely manner emailing both myself and the buyer the tracking number. You can tell from the records they are listing that they have a really interesting collection of records, too. If you visit the link for any of their items, you will see links for everything else they are selling.

Thanks JMSmith for posting more records and helping us tweak our Used Vinyl Sales.
