Academy Fight Song’s pressing of Kevin Devine’s “Brother’s Blood” will be in our hands sometime next week. We have 25 of each of the above colors coming in which are being pressed out of an edition of 400 150 gram red/orange swirl and 500 150 gram baby blue/pink swirl. I have had the opportunity to listen to this album a few times and it is really good. Definitely worth checking out.

Keeping in the spirit of giving away free records with purchases, we are happily announcing a FREE Kay Kay 7″ with any purchase in our Vinyl Collective store. As we have been moving things around for our Warehouse Clearance Sales, we noticed a few extra boxes of this Kay Kay 7″ and thought it would make a great bonus for people who are either not familiar with the band or already have it and would like to get one to give to a friend. Only 1 per order please as we are only giving away 30 copies.

If you have not yet heard Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, I think this single is a good place to start. I would actually recommend you pick up their debut album which we pressed as a double LP and on CD as I think it is an incredible debut. We originally released the album in January of 2008 and originally released it on vinyl only. The album has since been released on CD and the band has done tours with the Rx Bandits, MeWithoutYou, and Portugal the Man. If you are a fan of any of the previously mentioned bands, I think you might dig what these guys are doing. Kay Kay have a brand new album completed and after talking with a few bigger labels, it looks pretty likely that your friends at Suburban Home will be releasing it in 2010. We hope to make an official announcement in the near future, but until we do, familiarize yourself with this 7″ and their debut album.

DRAG THE RIVER “Primer” CD, Deluxe Sets

Now that Drag the River “Primer” is in stock, we wanted to post a full album stream to give you a chance to check out what we think is one hell of a Drag the River Mixtape. While we are waiting on the hoodies, gloves, and shot glasses which should be here by early next week, we have already begun shipping the CD. The compilation is over 1 hour of some of my favorite Drag the River songs and the collection features studio tracks from all of their albums, live tracks, and an uncreleased cover of Thin Lizzy that was recorded at our friends’ Brian and Liv’s wedding. I cannot recommend a better gift for your friends who have not yet been introduced to Drag the River. I gotta say that even though I celebrate their entire catalog, I love listening to this collection.

Get one while you can as the CD is limited to a one time pressing of 1,000 copies. We have shipped out over half of them to distributors and mailorder and don’t expect to have many left by the end of Christmas.

I don’t know if you saw this, but Alkaline Trio have worked out a collaborative partnership with Epitaph where they will co-release their 7th album on their newly started label, Heart & Skull. In an interview Matt Skiba also explained that they will be going back to their roots and recording a much more stripped down record. Congratulations Alkaline Trio, i am sure the partnership will go well and man, I have to tell you that I am really excited to hear the new album. My favorite records were released by Asian Man with Maybe I’ll Catch Fire being my favorite. I would love to see the next record take that direction.

We just got in the Converge Axe to Fall and we got copies on solid light blue and coke bottle blue. The coke bottle blue looks green against the green cloth. As always, the record packaging is amazing. We also got in Rise and Fall and the book, Adult Crash. Get the Converge while you can, as with all other Converge vinyl, it will be out of print before you know it.

As most of the world knows, Blink 182 vinyl has been criminally absent throughout the years and it just didn’t make sense. Our friends at Mightier Than Sword have done a lot of work to right that wrong and good for him as it seems to be paying off. The label hosted a pre-order of the first pressing and all 2,000 copies sold in one day. The 2nd pressing is being pressed in an edition of 3,000 copies (500 of each color) and we are lucky enough to be getting 50 of each color for pre-order. We are told that we will have these in time to ship them to everyone before Christmas. Unfortunately, orders overseas cannot be honored as the label were unable to acquire an international license for the Enema of the State vinyl. Sorry. We can sell it to U.S. and Canadian residents so if you have a good friend in the U.S. or Canada, I would coordinate things with them.

We also have some of the Buddha picture disc and LP coming in and figured this would be a good time to mention that. Our price on this is higher than I have seen with a few other stores, not sure why as we are buying from the same place, but you at least have the option to add a copy with the Eneme of the State pre-order.

We plan to get copies of the other Blink 182 LPs in the future, but as far as first pressings go, I recommend you buy them directly from the label before they sell out.
