TIM BARRY "28th & Stonewall" in stores today, available digitally

Today is Tuesday, January 26th, which is an important date at Suburban Home. Today is the day Tim Barry’s latest album, “28th & Stonewall” is officially released. If you pre-ordered the CD from us, it is on its way to you. If you pre-ordered the vinyl or deluxe set, we emailed you a link to download the album digitally last night, and will be sending the vinyl/deluxe sets as early as Friday as late as early next week. If you were waiting to order the album digitally from us, it is now available in our online store. Actually you can find all available formats through our store at this link.

Most mom and pop retail shops should have the album available on CD. As does Interpunk, Amazon, Shockhound, and soon Hot Topic. Digitally, the album is available at the usual suspects: Itunes, Amazon, Emusic, Rhapsody, and so on.

If you have picked up a copy, thank you so much. The feedback has been overwhelmingly great and we are excited to see what everyone thinks as they spend some time with the album. It is becoming my favorite of Tim Barry’s albums, but that is no easy feat.

Suburban Home to release ROCKY VOTOLATO / CHAD PRICE split 7"

We have been talking about putting out a split 7″ between Rocky Votolato and Chad Price for some time now and are excited to announce that this idea will soon become reality. Originally intended to be an under the influence 7″, it was later suggested that we release a split 7″ featuring a track from Chad Price’s most recent album, “Smile Sweet Face” as Rocky Votolato is a huge fan of the track, “This Cross”. Rocky contributed the original and exclusive track, “Transparent” to round out the split 7″. We were set to go as is, but when Rocky was in town, I asked if he would be into covering a song by Chad and having Chad cover a song by Rocky. Both agreed. Rocky recorded a cover of the Drag the River track, “Best & Worst”, a song that Chad Price sings from the “Garage Rock” 7″ and “Bad at Breaking Up” collection CD. Chad recorded a cover of the Rocky Votolato track, “Silver Trees” from “The Brag and Cuss”.

The 7″ will be pressed in an edition of 1,000 copies, 500 on transparent blue and all other pressings will be on black vinyl, starting with 500 on black. The 7″ will be bundled with an mp3 coupon. We are planning to release the 7″ on March 13th, 2010, but if all goes well, we will have copies in hand around the end of February. It is an honor to be doing this split 7″. I have been a long time fan of Rocky Votolato and both Chad and Rocky are long time friends.

PLEASE Print and Put on Your Fridge DRAG THE RIVER/CHEAP GIRLS Tour Flier

Our buddy, Mike Schwindenhammer put together a pdf flier for the upcoming tour with Drag the River and Cheap Girls. We are hoping that you might consider printing out 2 copies of the flier and posting one on your fridge at home and one at your fridge at work. We can use all the help we can get to help spread the word about what we think is one hell of a tour lineup. Print out a few more and take em to your local record store, liquor store, coffee shop, tattoo shop, and so on. We truly appreciate your help in spreading the word.

Stream: GLOSSARY "Better Nature" 180 gram deluxe vinyl LP

Yes, this album is available as a free download through Glossary.us, but I figured some of you might want to hear a few tracks first before taking the time to put this on your computer. This album has my highest recommendation. I absolutely love this band and this record is one of my favorites over the past few years. The album is based in Americana, but it has a lot of soul, some blues, and lots of killer instrumentation. It has some Kings of Leon moments but it is no way a carbon copy. The band has their own distinct sound and this an album I will be listening to for a long time to come.

So please give this album a listen, please then download the album for free, and then buy the 180 gram vinyl from us. Soon, Glossary will be releasing a brand new album and will be touring all over with Lucero. The new album is also great, but I will always love this record.

Stream: KEVIN KERBY + Battery "Beautiful and Bright" LP

Our buddy Travis at Last Chance Records gave us the ok to stream Kevin Kerby + Battery “Beautiful and Bright” LP. I highly recommend listening to the album if you are a fan of Glossary, Drag the River, and/or Wilco, you should definitely check out this record. We should have the vinyl in stock sometime next week. There is a test press contest for this album and the vinyl has an mp3 coupon.

Restock: NOTHINGTON "Roads, Bridges And Ruins" LP

NOTHINGTON “Roads, Bridges And Ruins” LP

We just got these back in stock and highly recommend you pick up a copy. What’s everything thinking of the new album? I got the ok to post a full album stream on the site, expect that to be posted shortly. If you like Lucero and Hot Water Music, you might find yourself a fan of this album. Good dudes.

Stream: RED MASS "Too Many Parties/Kinda Funny" 7"

We bring you a stream of Red Mass’ “Too Many Parties/Kinda Funny” 7″. Our friends at Wall Ride had this to say of the 7″:

The newest manifesto from Montreal’s RED MASS, fronted by Choyce of CPC GANGBANGS. Two infectiously catchy and equally deranged slices of noisy experimental garage punk that could only come from the one and only RED MASS. Electronic and live drums, fuzzed out guitars, sound effects with hook drenched choruses to tie it all together into a manic odditorium of psychedelic weirdness. Touring extensively with a constantly rotating lineup of likeminded artists, musicians and fellow weirdos, RED MASS will shortly be taking over your shitty town, and soon the world.

TIM BARRY "28th & Stonewall" reviewed on Shockhound's Taco Tuesday

Dan and Jay just posted their latest edition of Taco Tuesday and with this episode, they review Tim Barry’s latest, 28th & Stonewall and the newest album by Beach House. They discuss the track, “Prosser’s Gabriel”, and Jay says that although he is a huge Avail fan, he finds himself enjoying Tim Barry’s solo recordings just as much if not more.

Dan gives “28th & Stonewall” 4.5 out of 5 Tacos. Jay gives “28th @ Stonewall” 5 out of 5 Tacos.

Shockhound has “28th & Stonewall” on sale on CD for $6.99 (I think that might be today only), and they are taking orders on “28th & Stonewall” vinyl and appear to have copies of “Manchester” on vinyl, too.

Find the episode and links to buy Tim’s album here.

Thanks Dan and Jay, it is an honor to have one of our releases reviewed on your show.
