GLOSSARY “Better Nature” 180 gram deluxe vinyl LP
Kevin Kerby + Battery “Beautiful and Bright” LP
JOHN PAUL KEITH & the 1-4-5s “Knoxville Town” 7″
I am really excited to be working with Travis at Last Chance Records. Last Chance Records is a very like minded label based in Little Rock, Arkansas. They help coordinate shows for our bands, they help promote artists, and with their label, they have been putting out some killer releases (and more importantly, some new vinyl). If you are a fan of the Americana/Alt-Country releases that we put out, you have to put this label on your radar. Here is a brief overview of each release:
GLOSSARY “Better Nature” 180 gram deluxe vinyl LP
This is one of my favorite records over the past few years. I saw them open for Lucero and Jessica Lea Mayfield a little while back and have since seen Todd (pedal steel player) play in the revival tour, with Chuck Ragan, and with Lucero. This record takes a little bit of Kings of Leon, a little bit of soul, and a little bit of Country and every song is a hit. You can download this entire album for free at Glossary.us. While you are there, make sure you download Joey Kneiser’s album which is also available for free. Both records are amazing. Glossary are about to drop a new album which is also amazing and will be touring like crazy to support it. Last Chance plans to put the new album out on vinyl, too, but for now, pick up this album. It is on 180 gram vinyl, limited to 500 copies, and sounds unbelievable.
Kevin Kerby + Battery “Beautiful and Bright” LP
Kevin Kerby has played in a number of bands back in the day, but now he releases albums under Kevin Kerby + Battery. He’s a peer of Ben Nichols in the Little Rock scene, was in Ho Hum during it’s major label tenure, formed Mulehead and toured throughout the 90′s with some success in the Alt-Country movement. Joey Kneiser of Glossary covers “Paper Mills” which is off Kerbys first solo album. I haven’t spent as much time with this album as I should, but it sounds really good. i will be posting a full album stream shortly.
JOHN PAUL KEITH & the 1-4-5s “Knoxville Town” 7″
Travis sent me John Paul Keith’s latest album, “Spills and Thrills” and man, it is one kick ass record. It bumps and it moves and it makes you want to grab a handle of Jack Daniels and cut a rug. I am absolutely bummed out that I got to the Lucero show late and didn’t get to see John and the 1-4-5s play. I have been listening to this record so much lately and think that everyone should check these guys out. It’s got some honky tonk Country, some slower tunes, and there is definitely some Jerry Lee Lewis all over this record. Anyone know if “Spills and Thrills” is out on vinyl? The first in a series of limited edition John Paul Keith and the One Four Fives picture sleeve 45′s on Last Chance Records, “Knoxville Town” b/ Memphis Girls” is limited to 500 copies. Get yours before they’re gone! We should have a stream of this up soon, too.
We will have Test Pressing Contests for Kevin Kirby and John Paul Keith. Order a copy of either record and be entered to win a test pressing.
