Vinyl Collector of the Day, Shawn Sambol

Today, we bring you a vinyl collector of the day feature with Shawn Sambol. Shawn resides in Clermont, Florida, and started collecting records by purchasing a copy of Nine Inch Nail’s triple LP, The Fragile, which he found at a lower price than the CD format of the same album. Shawn has since amassed a collection that has reached 300 copies. Read on as Shawn discusses his most prized records, records he would love to see pressed, colored variants, and what out of print records he would love to own.

Please click the link to read Shawn’s feature. Thanks Shawn for taking the time to answer our questions. If you are interested in submitting your own Vinyl Collector of the Day feature, answer the questions at this link.

A Wilhelm Scream’s 5 song LP will finally be seeing release on June 22nd, 2010. Available on 3 different colors and the description explains that the LPs will be die cut. Dopamines – Expect The Worst LP Neon Green w/ CD
Dopamines – Expect The Worst LP Green And Black Swirl Vinyl w/ CD

The Dopamines have put out some really great records on the very great, It’s Alive Records. I know that It’s Alive helped turn a lot of ears to what the Dopamines were doing and it looks as though Vinnie from Paper and Plastick were one of those sets of ears. Dopamines have a new album coming out on June 29th, and this variant is limited to 500 copies with a CD.

If you like Lookout era punk rock or Minneapolis punk rock, you should spend a second to listen to the Dopamines.

While you are considering picking up this LP, make sure you check out their previous releases.

Jon had previously sold his record collection and is now trying to get his collection back up and running. Jon explains his first record purchase, the records he would like to see pressed, records he would die for, and his recent purchases. Photo: The Gaslight Anthem "American Slang" VC/No Idea variants

Side One Dummy just posted this photo on their twitter. Gotta say, they look pretty amazing. We should have them pretty soon.

PO: Sloppy Seconds "You Can't Kill Joey Ramone" 7"

Sloppy Seconds “You Can’t Kill Joey Ramone” 7″

Say what you will about Sloppy Seconds, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the band. They have a new single on our buddies at Wallride Records coming out. Interpunk has copies for sale and so does Wallride. It should be out very soon.

Sloppy Seconds- You Can’t Kill Joey Ramone- Just in time for Joey Ramone’s birthday, here’s a limited tribute single from the kings of junk rock. “You Can’t Kill Joey Ramone” on side A hails from Sloppy Seconds’ latest full length Endless Bummer and according to juicycerebellum.com is “the best fucking song Sloppy Seconds has done in 15 years.” Flip it over to side B for an unreleased cover of “Can’t Stand Rock And Roll” by the Anti-Nowhere League, easily far catchier and faster than the original.

Vinyl Collector of the Day, Jim Nieves

Today, we bring you our Vinyl Collector of the day, Jim Nieves. I recently read comments on a recent Collector of the Day post where readers had mentioned that they thought their own stories were not as compelling as that of the current Collector of the Day. I think that what makes these features great is that everyone has such a unique story as to how they found this format. Vinyl has spoken to each of us in a very special way and I really hope everyone gets a chance to share their own experience. Today, we bring you Jim Nieves, and what I love about Jim’s feature is that he comes from a different world of collecting. I think it would be fair to say that most collectors that have found Vinyl Collective come from more of a Punk Rock or Hardcore world. Jim comes from a slightly different world. I highly recommend reading his answers to why he collects vinyl, his first record purchase, records he would love to see pressed, out of print records he would love to own, and how one of his most prized records only cost him 20 cents. I particularly enjoyed reading about Jim’s comments on vinyl retail prices and how they have escalated in recent years. Thanks Jim for answering our questions.

VC/SH Auctions posted on Limited Pressing (215 items)

I have continued to post auctions on Limited Pressing. I currently have 215 items listed and every single auction has a starting price of 99 cents. While I know that a number of the auctions will fetch a good amount, I know that everyone will have some incredible opportunities at getting records for incredibly low prices. Whether you are looking for an out of print record to add to your collection or you are looking to buy 10 records priced at 99 cents each, there is something for everyone.

I expect Limited Pressing’s auctions to get a few more visitors since we are posting so many items. If you have something to sell, you should consider posting it in an auction at Limited Pressing. There is no cost to list your records and there is no fee taken if you sell anything. Unlike Ebay which continues to charge higher and higher fees, I highly recommend you support what the guys at Limited Pressing are doing.

Since the list of releases is so long, you can click the link below to see what has been posted. You can also visit this link to see a full list.
