PO: Red City Radio “To the Sons & Daughters of Woody Guthrie” LP

Red City Radio “To the Sons & Daughters of Woody Guthrie” LP

Our friends at Loose Charm are back with a brand new release, the 1 sided LP for Red City Radio, “The Sons & Daughters of Woody Guthrie”. While the EP came out earlier this year, Loose Charm are releasing the 5 song EP on wax. The pressing info is as follows:

100 on Gold Vinyl
400 on White Vinyl

As you can see from the photos, the b-side has been silk-screened. The records look really great. I will only have 50 of the Gold and 50 of the White so be sure you pre-order quickly. I imagine this release will sell out very quickly.

Have you heard this EP? These guys could quite possibly be my new, favorite punk band. The band are not only fantastic people who are really fun to drink/hang out with, but they absolutely and completely rock. They do gruff punk rock better than most and this EP will hopefully hold everyone over before they put out a brand new album on Paper and Plastick. This is recommended if you like Hot Water Music, Latterman, early Against Me, or much of what comes out on Kiss of Death and/or No Idea. I love this EP and am really excited to help out with the pre-order.

One lucky individual will win a set of both colors if you pre-order this record. Unfortunately all of the test pressings have already been promised. You might be wondering why I have decided to carry something that we haven’t put out. While I have no plans to carry everything like we used to, I do want to carry records I fucking love. I love this band and am sure most of you will too. I will be posting a stream sometime this week. Records are shipping to VC, we will be able to ship these almost immediately.

Vinyl Collector of the Day, Dan Case

Today, we bring you our Vinyl Collector of the Day, Dan Case. Dan claims Chicago as his place of residence but lives near St Louis. Dan took the time to answer our questions about why he collects vinyl, his first vinyl purchase, his most prized possession, records he would like to see pressed, his greatest vinyl scores, his thoughts on colored vinyl, recent purchases, and more. His first vinyl purchase was actually purchased before he owned a record player, something I see more and more. I’d love to know how many collectors first delved into vinyl by purchasing a rare release from a favorite band. I remember buying some of my first records because singles had songs not on the albums.

Thanks Dan for taking the time to answer our questions.

You, too, can answer our questions and submit your Vinyl Collector of the Day feature. What are you waiting for? You can find the questions here.

Suburban Home 15th Anniversary Beer Tour Details / Reserving Bus Spots

Suburban Home 15th Anniversary Beer Tour Bus Spot Reservation – $20.00

While I still have a few more details to iron out, I have just booked the Charter Bus for Suburban Home Records 15th Annivesary Craft Beer Tour. While the folks at Colorado Charter Lines could not confirm that we will be getting the bus in the above photograph, the bus will look a lot like this. The bus seats 55 people and I am hoping that most of you will consider joining us. Due to the high expense of renting the bus, the cost of getting a seat on the bus will be $20 per person. I know, that is very pricey, but not only will you be safely driven to 4 breweries and 1 distillery, our friends at the Wynkoop will be supplying beers for all to drink during the beer tour.

Here is a breakdown of how things will be laid out:

  • Hangover Brunch at 10am (yes, I know that is early) at the Lobby
  • Great Divide Brewery
  • Wynkoop Brewery
  • Oskar Blues Brewery
  • Avery Brewery
  • Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey Distillery

I am still ironing out the times for each place and trying to get each brewery/distillery to give us a tour. I will warn everyone about a hundred times to please watch how much they drink. Especially you out of towners, drinking in Denver is a lot different than drinking in a town with little to no elevation. Being a mile high makes drinking have that much more of an affect on you. I really hope people don’t get so drunk they are time traveling during our show that night.

Warnings aside, this is going to be an amazing day. We will be doing the tour from around noon to 6pm and I am working on having the Bus take folks back to the hotel that most of us are staying at. I think I will have Avery in boulder be our last stop so that some people can nap back to Denver. Expect final details soon, but please reserve your spot now. I would hate to see you miss out on such a great time.

120 VC/SH Records on Auction at Limited Pressing (Copyrights,Revival Tour almost OOP)

120 VC/SH Records on Auction at Limited Pressing (Copyrights,Revival Tour almost OOP)

So I learned a valuable lesson this past Saturday (the day that I typically list/relist auctions). I figured it would be a good idea to relist my auctions after having done a Beer Crawl for Cancer, on crawl that had me going to 6 bars between 1pm and 7pm. Just like it is never a good idea to shop auction sites while under the influence of alcohol, you should also not list auctions while inebriated. I didn’t fuck things up too badly, but I listed like 30 records twice. I ended a number of those auctions, but left a bunch that already had bids on both records. My mistake could be your benefit when some of those records end for lower than they normally do.

A few things to keep an eye out are the Copyrights “Learn the Hard Way” which is very close to being out of print. I have interpunk sending 25 of their 28 copies to the band and I have probably 6 copies left. I don’t plan to repress this record so get one while you can. Same goes for the Revival Tour LP which I only have a few of. Good luck getting those as well as records by Mars Volta, Pinhead Gunpowder, Tim Barry, Frank Turner, Chad Price, Minus the Bear, and lots more.

Red City Radio "To the Sons & Daughters of Woody Guthrie" LP Pre-order Announced

The guys just had a release show for the vinyl in Oklahoma and tomorrow, Tuesday, August 24th, I will be posting a pre-order for this 1 sided LP. I will only have 50 of the Gold and 50 of the White so be sure you pre-order quickly. I imagine this release will sell out very quickly.

Have you heard this EP? These guys could quite possibly be my new, favorite punk band. I love this EP and am really excited to help out with the pre-order.

I don’t have a time planned for when I will be posting the record, but it should be sometime in the AM (MST). Vinyl Collector of the Month, Jason Sykes

Today, we bring you our Vinyl Collector of the Month, Jason Sykes. Jason is currently in Jacksonville, Arkansas as he is serving in the US Air Force. Jason took the time to answer our questions about why he collects vinyl, his first vinyl purchase, an out of print record he would kill to own, his recent vinyl purchases, and more. He quite possibly has my favorite answers to How Man Records he owns (Not Enough), and his 4 part answers to why he collects vinyl. And while I am not sure Jason isn’t joking, he said that the owners of Mylene Sheath are his parents. I highly recommend reading Jason’s feature. Thanks Jason for taking the time to answer our questions.

You, too, can answer our questions and submit your Vinyl Collector of the Day feature. What are you waiting for? You can find the questions here.

Vinyl Collector of the Day, Aaron Saiz

Today, we bring you our Vinyl Collector of the Day, Aaron Saiz. Aaron Saiz (not to be confused with the mastermind of Team Science (Aaron Sainz), is rather new to the world of vinyl collecting. Aaron might not have the biggest collection (yet), but he is enthusiastic about vinyl. Aaron answered our questions about why he collects vinyl, his first purchase, his most prized records, his thoughts on colored vinyl, and more.

Photos: Minus the Bear "Planet of Ice" final repress on VC / A Test Pressing Contest

Just picked up the final repress of Minus the Bear’s “Planet of Ice”. These took a little bit longer than I had hoped, but records almost always do. I think both colors turned out nice even though I was expecting something completely different for the Clear w/ Purple Splash. I think that the folks at Rainbo who work with Record Pressing just don’t have the ability to separate out colors. While I might not have ordered this color had I known they would have turned out this way, I do like how they turned out. What do you think?

For those of you curious about when these records will ship, they are being packed and shipped as I write. I hope to get most out today, but some will go out tomorrow. Thanks for everyone’s patience.

And I wanted to offer a test pressing to one person who can identify the at least 5 differences between this final repress and the previous pressings. Email me your submissions and I will pick a winner in about a month from now. I will also pick the normal test pressing winner sometime next week. Good luck.

TP/PO: DRAG THE RIVER “Closed” LP

DRAG THE RIVER “Closed” LP (ALL 3 COLORS)
DRAG THE RIVER “Closed” LP

That’s right my friends, the long overdue vinyl pressing of Drag the River’s Closed is in production right now. I’m not really sure why it took us this long to put the album on vinyl, but it is happening. As a matter of fact, I received the test pressings late last week and the test pressings are approved. The 1,000 piece pressing will be pressed on 3 colors:

150 on Whiskey Coke colored vinyl (special 15th Anniversary color)
400 on Gold vinyl
450 on Black vinyl (all future pressing will be on black vinyl)

I originally planned to press a number of our records and repressed records on Whiskey Coke colored vinyl for our 15th Anniversary weekend, but being that vinyl always takes forever, we will just offer these special edition records for sale on our website. Expect each edition to go fast. We think that there is a good chance that the vinyl will be done in time for our 15th Anniversary weekend but you never know.

Depending on the day, this is my favorite Drag the River album. The album features so many great songs like “Medicine”, “Get Drunk”, “Calloused Heart”, “Forgiveness”, and so many more. If you haven’t heard the album in a while, take a listen to this full album stream.

Records should be in and ready to ship by mid September at the latest, there is a test pressing contest for all who pre-order the album. Good luck.
