Bad Astronaut “Acrophobe” LP (available in Whiskey Coke and Black vinyl)

Bad Astronaut “Acrophobe” LP (Set of all 4 Colors)

While I have been talking about this for quite some time, I am very proud to say that the pressing for Bad Astronaut’s “Acrophobe” is finally happening. I was really hoping to have them done in time for the Bad Astronaut shows in July, but unfortunately, that did not happen. I received the test pressings late last week and spent a lot of time with them over the weekend. The test pressings are approved and if all goes well, I will have finished records by the end of September. I will be sure to keep you posted.

The pressing info is as follows:

150 on transparent brown (whiskey coke colored vinyl, Vinyl Collective Exclusive)
250 on white vinyl (Hot Topic Exclusive Color)
300 on solid baby blue (light blue) (Joey Cape/Bad Astronaut exclusive color, available from Joey Cape)
300 on black vinyl (represses will be on black vinyl)

Before anyone freaks out about the exclusive colors and your ability or lack of ability to get each variant, I have worked it out with Joey and Hot Topic to offer 50 sets of all 4 colors through our store. But after those sets are sold out, the only way to get White is at Hot Topic and the only way to get Solid Baby Blue is from Joey Cape.

I will be offering a test pressing contest for all who pre-order the record; good luck. I am really honored to have something to do with this album. While I am planning on releasing the other Bad Astronaut records in the future, there is no timeline for when these will come out.

Just picked up the final repress of Minus the Bear’s “Planet of Ice”. These took a little bit longer than I had hoped, but records almost always do. I think both colors turned out nice even though I was expecting something completely different for the Clear w/ Purple Splash. I think that the folks at Rainbo who work with Record Pressing just don’t have the ability to separate out colors. While I might not have ordered this color had I known they would have turned out this way, I do like how they turned out. What do you think?

For those of you curious about when these records will ship, they are being packed and shipped as I write. I hope to get most out today, but some will go out tomorrow. Thanks for everyone’s patience.

And I wanted to offer a test pressing to one person who can identify the at least 5 differences between this final repress and the previous pressings. Email me your submissions and I will pick a winner in about a month from now. I will also pick the normal test pressing winner sometime next week. Good luck.

Tomorrow, July 14th, The Gaslight Anthem will embark on their first tour supporting their latest album, “American Slang”. While I always get excited for a Gaslight Anthem show in Denver, this tour features Suburban Home’s own Tim Barry. I hope everyone will consider making it out to the show early to catch Tim who will be playing first. Chamberlain will be playing main support on this tour. Who’s already got tickets? To which show(s)?

Our good friends at Side One Dummy are giving some of you an opportunity to win tickets. If you are in St. Louis, Kansas City, Denver, or Los Angeles, and are interested in winning a pair of tickets for the show, here is what you do:

  • Forward your receipt for your Gaslight Anthem “American Slang” purchase to Side One Dummy.
  • Make sure you include in the subject VC Gaslight Anthem Contest and the City You are Hoping to win tickets to. Example: VC Gaslight Anthem Contest Denver
  • Cross your fingers and hope the good people at Side One Dummy pick you.

Below are the dates. I highly recommend going to a show near you. I will be enjoying the show in Denver. Thanks Side One Dummy. Hopefully they decide to let us give away tickets to other dates on the tour. Stay tuned.

The Gaslight Anthem “American Slang” Test Pressing Winner – Steve Donahue

Congratulations buddy; you pretty much just won the crown jewel of test pressings. I actually thought I was getting 2 test pressings (I will double check on this) so if we do get another one, expect another winner to be announced. Those of you curious, this test pressing was from the Pirates Press pressing. Pirates Press pressed the Vinyl Collective and No Idea exclusive colors. It wasn’t numbered so I’m not sure how many were made, but there is also test pressings from the 180 gram pressings done at Rainbo. Congratulations.

Devin Rombough – Yesterday’s Ring “Chasers” LP

I don’t know if you have noticed, but I have started posting a new test pressing winner every day for past pre-orders. I know its late, but better late than never. Today, our winner is Devin Rombough and he will be receiving a signed Yesterday’s Ring “Chasers” test pressing. Congrats buddy.

Andrew Bemis – Look Mexico “To Bed to Battle”

Congratulations Andrew, you are the winner of the test pressing for Look Mexico’s “To Bed to Battle”. Due to a misunderstanding, only 5 test pressings were made. We will send it out this week.

If you haven’t picked up Look Mexico’s new album on vinyl, you should do so. We have a few laying around the office so email me if you want to buy one from us. Interpunk has copies, too, but the record will soon be out of print. To clarify the pressing info, 425 were pressed on Salmon colored vinyl and 75 were pressed on Orange as the pressing plant ran out of the pink that made the Salmon color Salmon colored. We have yet to see one of the Orange colored records as they were mixed in with all the Salmon colored vinyl but you can tell if you have them side by side.

Get this record before it is out of print.

Stephen Zmijewski – THE GET UP KIDS “Simple Science” LP

Congrats Stephen, you are our winner of the Get Up Kids simple science test pressing. We will send it out this week. Thanks everyone else for participating. We actually still have a few copies of Simple Science on blue vinyl; if you want one, email me. You can also pick up the 180 gram black vinyl through Interpunk.

THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM American Slang LP Half Black/Half Green w/ White Splatter vinyl (VC exclusive)
THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM “American Slang” LP Black 180 Gram Vinyl

You should know the deal by now. We have an exclusive color of the new Gaslight Anthem album, “American Slang”. It is out of a pressing of 500 copies on Half Black/Half Green w/ White Splatter. We are also selling copies of the 180 Gram black vinyl. Both Side One Dummy and No Idea will have their own exclusive colors (for sale today). There is also a European version for sale but not sure where it will be available from. For those of you trying to get each variant, good luck.

We please ask that you don’t purchase more than 2 copies. If you do, we will more than likely cancel and refund any additional copies if you purchase more than 2 copies. We expect this pre-order to sell out really, really quickly, and we just want as many people to be able to get a copy of what we think is an incredible album.

Your purchase will enter you for a chance to win 1 of 2 test pressings. I wish you good luck my friends. This is a pre-order; the album isn’t due in stores until June 15th which means we won’t have copies til around the week before to ship to you.
