We just got in a box of Paint it Black “New Lexicon” vinyl from Rivalry Records. the restocks represent the 2nd pressing of the album. I expect the Green copies to sell out super fast as there is a bit of talk about it since someone sold a copy for $80 on Ebay. Pretty crazy, huh? Well, get em while you can get them at decent prices, this is a kick ass record that is sure to be out of print sooner than later.

So we ended up getting the represses of Screeching Weasel, Queers, and Off with Their Heads in late last night and due to the number of orders for Norma Jean and Sparta, we did not get to these last night. We are working hard to get these out today, but some may not go out til tomorrow.

As you can see from the colors, they are not exactly as described. This is due to the fact that most of the plants in the United States are having colored vinyl shortages. Seems implausible I know, but it is in fact the case. Because of this, the recent Recess represses look more like the No Idea Grey which results from a combination of leftover colored vinyl and black vinyl.

There is word that there are different color varieties with the represses and for those of you who ordered more than one copy, we will pull copies from different boxes hoping to get you different color varieties. No guarantees though.

So the nightmare is almost over and the day that we finally received the remaining copies of the Norma Jean box set and the 2 rarer colors of Sparta “Threes” is here. Today, the curse was almost continued when the Yellow Freight truck showed up and said that he was told we had a loading dock (we don’t) and that he would have to go back and get this re-dispatched to a truck that had a lift and a pallet jack. This would have meant that we would not have received the records til tomorrow and I have a crew of friends coming over tonight to pack the pre-orders tonight. Luckily, he found another yellow truck driver to come over and the trucks went ass to ass (not unlike Requiem for a Dream) and one truck gave the other truck our pallets of records. From that point, the pallets were lowered and with the pallet jack, the pallets were brought into our warehouse. We received 120 boxes of Norma Jean and Sparta and I could only imagine what in the world I would have done had we still been doing things out of my house. Can you imagine? I should also be receiving about 20 boxes of Screeching Weasel, Queers, and Off with Their Heads tonight. I hope to post photos at some point tonight or tomorrow morning.

I am very lucky that I have some good friends to help pack orders. Wish us luck as we aim to get all the pre-orders out by tomorrow. Beer and Pizza will be our fuel tonight.

We are excited to announce the 8th Punk Rock Flea Market brought to you by your friends at Suburban Home and Vinyl Collective in association with 3 Kings Tavern. The date is Saturday, May 10th. The Punk Rock Flea Market happens every 2nd Saturday of the month. If you have stuff for sale, email me. Everyone is welcome, there is no cost, and the more the merrier. I write this at 5am on Friday morning right before I embark on a trip to South Dakota to celebrate the 100th birthday of my wife’s grandma. I wanted to give everyone a really quick update about stuff for next week.

On Tuesday, we will be receiving 150 boxes of vinyl which will include the remaining colors of the Norma Jean box set, the remaining colors of Sparta, the recent pressings from recess for Screeching Weasel, Queers, and Off With Their Heads. I have a crew of friends coming over that night and it is our aim to get as many orders packaged that night to be sent out on Wednesday morning. It should be a pretty gnarly day and night and with luck, by Thursday, all of these packages will be sent out and the nightmare that has been Norma Jean and Sparta will be over.

On Monday, I will be posting restocks from most of our distributors. Many of the things you have been waiting for us to restock will be restocked.

And if you are interested in hearing our latest band, Jr. Juggernaut, we just sent out a yousendit link for the first 200 people to download the entire album. If you dig Husker Du, Replacements, Two Cow Garage, and Armchair Martian, this might be a record that you should check out.

When starting the Vinyl Collector of the Month, I had a handful of friends in mind who would make perfect candidates. I had these people in mind, but I did not want to make them a Collector of the Month until we had a number of people not previously affiliated with VC first. Joey Bullock was one of the guys I had in mind early on as he used to work for Suburban Home, was around when we first started Vinyl Collective, and his involvement had turned him into a crazed record collector. Joey is always the first to volunteer his services when we need help with a mail out and on top of it, he is a great friend. He and our other good friend, Zach from Grey Flight, are also starting a new vinyl label and will be releasing Dear and the Headlights on vinyl soon. He also happens to be one of our board members for the Vinyl Cooperative label. When I asked him to be our May Vinyl Collector of the Month, he asked if he could send a naked photo and I assumed he was kidding. As you can tell above, he wasn’t.

Joey was kind enough to answer questions I sent him regarding his collection, why he buys vinyl, his recent purchases, and more.
