Murder by Death / Sam Lowry split 7″

I just picked up a well packaged box from Bloomington, Indiana, sent by Adam from Murder by Death. The box contains what you see above: Murder by Death / Sam Lowry split 7″s and Murder by Death’s 10 year DVD. I am sold out of the DVDs, but if you want one of the split 7″s, I only have like 10 left. Both the DVD and the 7″ are available from the band’s webstore or from them directly while on tour. I do expect both to sell out sooner than later so make sure you get one sooner than later. Especially with the 7″s, they are all pretty much out of print in the series so far.

If you pre-ordered this from me and there are no other pre-orders in the same order, your order will ship today. Thanks for your order.

Photo: Justin Townes Earle "Harlem River Blues" plus bandana and screen print

I got the records and as you will see from the photo, I was given bandanas and screen prints. I got enough to send out one with each order. I will not be taking suggestions, you will either get a bandana or a hand-numbered screen print.

I also got True Blood current season episodes 3 through 11. I am so damned excited to be watching while packing records. Records will ship today.

Photo: The Gamits "Parts" endcap display at Tower Japan

While this photo may think you have gone back in time when bands like No Use for a Name, Rufio, and The Gamits were actively putting out records and Tower Records still existed, this photo was just from the other day. Punk in ya Face (the Gamits’ Japanese label) sent over a photo of an endcap display at Tower Japan. Tower Japan separated themselves from the U.S. entity and is still going strong.

The Gamits are actually gearing up for what should be an incredible tour of Japan and Russia. They absolutely rocked it at our Anniversary weekend despite Scott Weigel having food poisoning and projectile vomiting on stage!

Have you listened to the album? Stream it here; and make sure you pick up the Plaid colored vinyl from us as we are nearly sold out.

Photo: Two Cow Garage "Lydia" Single Polaroids

Over the Suburban Home Records’ 15th Anniversary Weekend, Two Cow Garage handed me over 20 Polaroids which you see photographed above. While the polaroids are a smaller size than what I thought they would be, all the photos turned out really great. Some of my favorites are of Andy and Shane passed out on their hotel room bed, a photo of Jon Snodgrass, the poster for the Suburban Home 15th Anniversary, a photo of a couple members of I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In the House back stage, and well, they are all pretty rad. I really hope everyone enjoys them. Even though, you received a link to download the single upon purchasing the single, the photo also comes with a code on the back as well is being hand-numbered.

For those of you who noticed that the Lydia single was encoded at 192 Kbps while the b-side was encoded at 320 Kbps, the problem has been fixed. I am very sorry I didn’t catch that initially.

If you missed out on the Polaroids and haven’t purchased the digital single, what are you waiting for? The single is amazing and is only a taste of what you will get with their upcoming album, “Sweet Saint Me”.

Chamberlain w/ Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem) “Raise It High” 7″ (/500)

I just got in a box containing 150 copies of the Chamberlain w/ Brian Fallon 7″. I have sold 109 copies so far and all should go out today. I’ve packed most of them and will pack the rest as I watch the remainder of Air Guitar Nation which has been surprisingly good. I will be rooting for C Diddy to win the World Air Guitar Championships (yes, I realize this was from 2004). Back to the 7″. Your copy if you pre-ordered it is on its way to you. If you haven’t ordered one yet, I highly recommend you do; I don’t see the remaining copies lasting very long.

Photo: Red City Radio "To The Sons & Daughters of Woody Guthrie" LP

While I have already posted photos taken by the label when I announced the pre-order, I figured I would post a photo letting you know that the records have arrived. I have to say that those guys at Loose Charm know how to package up records. Not only were the records double-packed, there was tons of cardboard and newspaper keeping everything in perfect condition. If you pre-ordered the record and there were no other pre-orders with your order, the records should ship today. If you haven’t pre-ordered this LP, I have 5 copies left on white vinyl. Order one while you can or order it directly from the label.

Thanks for making this such a great pre-order. If you haven’t given our stream a listen or visited the band’s Myspace page, I highly recommend you do.

And next week, I will announce the winner of a set of both colors of this LP. Good luck.

Photos: Minus the Bear "Planet of Ice" final repress on VC / A Test Pressing Contest

Just picked up the final repress of Minus the Bear’s “Planet of Ice”. These took a little bit longer than I had hoped, but records almost always do. I think both colors turned out nice even though I was expecting something completely different for the Clear w/ Purple Splash. I think that the folks at Rainbo who work with Record Pressing just don’t have the ability to separate out colors. While I might not have ordered this color had I known they would have turned out this way, I do like how they turned out. What do you think?

For those of you curious about when these records will ship, they are being packed and shipped as I write. I hope to get most out today, but some will go out tomorrow. Thanks for everyone’s patience.

And I wanted to offer a test pressing to one person who can identify the at least 5 differences between this final repress and the previous pressings. Email me your submissions and I will pick a winner in about a month from now. I will also pick the normal test pressing winner sometime next week. Good luck.

Photo: Jeff Rowe "Barstool Conversations"

I just got this in the mail yesterday and after 2 spins, i am really, really enjoying this album. I am guessing that most of you are not familiar with Jeff Rowe, but I hope everyone lends an ear. You can hear tunes on his myspace page or listen to a track from this album on the latest Suburban Home Records Mix Tape. I like the album a lot and have a feeling it is gonna be in constant rotation. It reminds me of Rocky Votolato but there is more of a working class aesthetic to the songs on Jeff Rowe’s album. While I still have a lot of time to spend with the album, I am already feeling a connection to the lyrics. Anchorless scores another fantastic release. I recommend everyone pick up a copy.
