Photo: Lucero "Rebels, Rogues & Sworn Brothers" 180 gram LP

While I pre-ordered the Red 180 gram vinyl (haven’t yet received it), I hung out with Jordan (mastermind behind Sabot) who was touring with Against Me and Silversun Pickups and he was kind enough to give me a copy of the white 180 gram vinyl. Let me just say that the packaging is top notch. The gatefold jackets are heavy duty, almost book bound, and the 180 gram vinyl is obviously heavy duty. It’s surprising that you can get the LPs for only $10 through the Sabot store since the cost to make these had to have cost a pretty penny.

A little note in case you haven’t purchased it and are deciding which to purchase, Jordan mentioned that the White vinyl is slightly more rare than the Red. He also mentioned that while they haven’t yet sold out of the colored vinyl, it is well on its way to selling out. Buy this vinyl before you miss out on a chance to get this album on vinyl. Jordan mentioned that next up will be That Much Further West and Ben Nichols’ solo album. I will be first in line for both of those records.

Photos: Fallen from the Sky / Wonder Years Under the Influence Volume 13

The records arrived today and I gotta say, they look great. If you pre-ordered your copies from Interpunk, they might have already shipped. If not, they will ship very soon. If you have a subscription for volumes #5 through #14, yours will ship early next week. If you missed out on pre-ordering, Interpunk has a handful of each color available. Banquet Records and Shop Radio Cast have a handful, too. After I send out subscription copies and a few distributor orders, I will have a few to offer in our store. This record will soon be out of print so get your copy now.

Photo: Fallen from the Sky / Wonder Years UTI 7" on the presses

Jay at United sent me a link to United’s facebook profile where they are showing off a photo of the Fallen from the Sky / Wonder Years Under the Influence 7″ which is on the presses right now. If all goes as planned, copies could be shipping as soon as Friday or Monday if you pre-ordered through Interpunk or if you subscribed to Under the Influence volumes 5 through 14. Thanks to everyone’s patience.

And if you haven’t pre-ordered, this record will be out of print within a few weeks as the distributor pre-orders plus mailorder pre-orders and subscriptions equal almost the number of copies being pressed.

UTI #14 is being mastered right now and artwork is being put together.

If want a set of Under the Influence 7″s volumes 1 through 12, I have an auction posted at Limited Pressing starting at 99 cents.

Photo: Minus the Bear "Planet of Ice" variants

Yesterday, I had announced one, final Vinyl Collective repress for Minus the Bear’s Planet of Ice. In that post, I asked Juan Diniz to send me a photo of every variant and sure enough, he did it. Juan probably has one of the most complete Minus the Bear collections I know of. I figured it might help some of you to see all the earlier pressings before suggesting what color of vinyl we should do for this final repress.

Thanks Juan.

Photo: Look Mexico "To Bed To Battle" LP Orange vs Salmon

While I have yet to see this for my own eyes, my friend, Jeff Smith, sent over a photo showing the difference between the colors on Look Mexico’s To Bed to Battle. On the left, you see what is more of an orange-ish color, while the one on the right is more of what we are calling Salmon. The Orange was pressed out of an edition of 75 copies while the Salmon was out of 425. This happened because the pressing plant ran out of the pink color they were using to get more of the Salmon color. While there are definitely copies floating around at places like Interpunk and various distros and it is quite possible that Look Mexico have some, it is hard to know exactly who has them. Good luck finding them. I am hoping I can snag one of the orange ones.

Show and Tell – Stephen Abbots' Vinyl Inspired Wedding Items

Groom’s cake (Fucking awesome nod to the Descendents)

Wedding Favor Bowls (how stoked would you be to take this home, sure beats the hell out of most of the favors I have received)

Pretty sweet Menu for the Wedding

Longtime supporter, Stephen Abbots from the UK, recently sent me these photos of items from his wedding. First of all, Congratulations buddy. I hope everything went perfectly. And I hope losing your virginity was all that you had hoped it would be (just kidding, or maybe I’m not). I have to say that if these photos are any indication of the time spent on making the wedding awesome, I have not doubt everything was amazing.

While I did not get Stephen’s approval to post this in the first of what will hopefully be a long running series of posts called “Show and Tell”, I figured he would give me his blessing. I would want the world to see the end results of all the hard work. My idea for future show and tell’s is send us some photos and tell us a story. Do you have a complete Get Up Kids’ vinyl collection? Send us the photos and tell us a little bit about your collection. Take a photo of you with your most expensive record in your collection and tell us a bit about it. I will from time to time ask for more focused “Show and Tell”‘s but you get the idea.

Here is what Stephen had to say about the photos:
My wedding is this Saturday and I thought you might dig some of the record related stuff I’ve managed to fit into it. Attached are pictures of the menus and wedding favour bowls made out of cheap second hand 7″s and also there’s a pic of my grooms cake parodying one of my favourite albums (I understand a grooms cake is a tradition in some parts of America, we don’t normally have them in the UK but I read about them and thought why not, more cake is always a plus).

Photo: LOOK MEXICO "To Bed To Battle" LP / Look Mexico tour dates

I am really excited to share with you a photo of the Salmon colored vinyl for Look Mexico’s To Bed to Battle. We received 2 boxes today in time to get copies to Look Mexico for their tour with Weatherbox. If you are in Denver tomorrow, please come out to the show. The photo I took doesn’t quite do the color justice as there are pinks in the orange. We will begin shipping pre-orders, but we won’t be able to ship them all until we receive all of our copies. If you haven’t pre-ordered this, make sure you order a copy from Interpunk or the band on tour as the colored vinyl will soon be out of print.

I will be posting photos of the deluxe set for “To Bed To Battle” later this week.
