JAWBREAKER – Dear You 2xLP

Alright friends, get em while their hot. We just got word from our distributor that they are doing a repress of Jawbreaker’s Dear You double LP. This time, I was able to talk them into giving us 100 copies. I don’t yet know how many they repressed, but as with older represses, these will be history before you know it. And if you don’t already have a copy of this record, it is my favorite jawbreaker album (24 hour revenge therapy is a close 2nd).

GREEN DAY “Nimrod” LP reissue
GREEN DAY “Warning” LP reissue

So there’s this band called Green Day, you might have heard of them. Their major label has taken the task of reissuing all of the band’s back-catalog on vinyl and here are the next two in line. The Nimrod pre-order should have gone up like a few weeks ago as I think the record is now out. I just placed my order and should have copies late this week or early next week. “Warning” isn’t due til late July/early August, but the baffling thing is that Adeline’s version of the Warning vinyl on Green is still in print. I spoke to Adeline and they still have a decent amount of copies. If I were you, I’d get it on green on Adeline as this major label version should be in print for some time to come. Speaking of Adeline, we still have copies available of “American Idiot” which will soon get the re-release via Warner. By summer’s end, it will be possible to get pretty much all of the Green Day catalog on vinyl.

Here are some of the other Green Day titles, we have in stock:

GREEN DAY “21st Century Breakdown” LP
GREEN DAY “39 Smooth” LP + dbl 7″
GREEN DAY “American Idiot” dbl LP
GREEN DAY “Dookie” 180 gram vinyl
GREEN DAY “Insomniac!” LP
GREEN DAY “Kerplunk!” LP + 7″
GREEN DAY “Minority” 7″
GREEN DAY “Nimrod” LP reissue
GREEN DAY “Waiting” 7″ pink marble vinyl
GREEN DAY “Warning” 7″ clear gold vinyl
GREEN DAY “Warning” LP green vinyl

THE SMITHS “Strangeways, Here We Come” LP 180 gram vinyl
THE SMITHS “The Queen Is Dead” LP 180 gram vinyl
THE SMITHS “Meat Is Murder” LP 180 gram vinyl
THE SMITHS “S/T” LP 180 gram vinyl

You may or may not know this, but I celebrate the Smiths’ entire catalog. I from time to time subject the office to 2 hour blocks of the Smiths and only get a few complaints when I do. The Smiths’ back catalog will be back in print on vinyl in August. The records were remastered and the sessions were supervised by Johnny Marr. The records are getting repressed on 180 gram vinyl. I am pretty excited to have these records and listen to them all. They are a bit pricey, but it has been some time since all of these records have been easily available.

MUSE “Black Holes And Revelations” dbl LP
MUSE “Absolution” dbl LP

Looks as though the other 2 Muse records we have been taking pre-orders on have been pushed back til August, Origina of Symmetry and Showbiz. Found that out at the same time that I found out that we are getting copies of “Black Holes and Revelations” and “Absolution”. The release date is in August, I think August 23rd. If you are adding these to your other Muse pre-orders and want to combine them to save on shipping, just email info at suburban home records dot com after placing your order for these records. I recommend you start with “Absolution”, that is my favorite Muse record.

WILLIE NELSON “Shotgun Willie”
WILLIE NELSON “Phases & Stages”

Stoked to see all these Willie records being reissued. My Willie collection is sorely lacking and after having read a Willie biography, I have attained super fan status. These records will be released in August.

As most of you know, Mike Hale has dedicated his life to the road. Most of that time will be spent performing solo, but whenever possible, In the Red, will also be touring. While Mike was wrapping up a tour with Ninja Gun, we had been talking about finding a good tour for In the Red to do in July and as fate would have it our friends in Anchor Down were putting together a tour with Bastards of Young and Drunken Boat. The routing we had planned ran into their tour so it came up why not do the tour together. Luckily for us, the bands on the tour were ok with adding another band and as the tour got finalized, we also discussed the possibility of a tour 7″. It really is amazing that all 4 bands either had a song or were recording a new song and that this all came together as quickly as it did. The In the Red track, “Here We All Die” was from a session in between the recordings of Volume 1 and Volume 2. As you might guess, the sound fits somewhere in between, too. The other tracks were recorded recently specifically for this 4 way split and let me say that all 4 songs are fantastic. I had already been a big fan of Anchor Down and their track is excellent. I wasn’t as familiar with Bastards of Young or Drunken Boat, but their songs are amazing and they can both count me as a fan now. This is an excellent record.

The pressing info is a little confusing. Let me start by explaining that there are 4 different colors of jackets for the silk-screened jackets (250 of each). Each band picked a color of paper : In the Red (Cherry), Anchor Down (Grey), Bastards of Young (Ivory), and Drunken Boat (Canary). The vinyl will be pressed out of an edition of 1,000 copies (300 on red vinyl, 700 on black vinyl). So for you mathletes out there, the breakdown will be

75 Red vinyl on Cherry paper, 75 Red vinyl on Grey paper, 75 Red vinyl on Ivory paper, 75 Red vinyl on Canary Paper
175 Black vinyl on Cherry paper, 175 Black vinyl on Grey paper, 175 Black vinyl on Ivory paper, 175 Black vinyl on Canary Paper

Understand that we did not do this to make people buy more than one version (or 8 variants), but it was suggested that on the tour, it would be cool if each band had their own version of the record. I opted not to sell a set with all 8 variants either because I did not want to encourage buying all 8. I do encourage you buy one copy as the record is bad ass.

Track Listing:
In the Red “Here We All Die”
Anchor Down “All Perfume”
Bastards of Young “Earthquake Weather”
Drunken Boat “Hell Freezes Over”

Pre-order this record and enter for a chance to win a test pressing. We should have copies of the vinyl by late July, early August.

JOSH SMALL “Tall by Josh Small” double LP frosty green vinyl

I still remember the first time I saw Josh Small jamming in Jon Snodgrass’ garage with Jon and Tim Barry. I was blown away as he song parts of songs that would eventually make up “Tall”. And since the release of “Tall”, Josh has been keeping super busy. He has toured all over in support of this album and currently, he is on tour in Europe with Mike Hale and Austin Lucas. When he gets home, he will begin recording a new album and if the demos I have are any indication, this is going to be an incredible album.

When we first pressed “Tall”, we did a pressing of only 200 copies. We put it out not because we thought it would be a big seller, but because we loved the album and wanted to have a copy on wax. That first pressing sold out even at the really high price we had to set because of how small the pressing was. This new repress is out of an edition of 500 copies on Frosty Green Vinyl. We are splitting the pressing with our friends at Hometown Caravan so we will have 250 copies. The price has gone down and the color of vinyl should match the silk-screened jacket. Pre-order this album and enter for a chance to win a test pressing. Good luck.

If you missed out on the original pressing, no problem. You should make sure though that you get a copy of this pressing. Take a listen to the full album stream below and if you dig it, please share it with others. This is a beautiful album that sounds like it was made in the 70’s folk scene.

VINYL COMES WITH A DIGITAL DOWNLOAD COUPON AND WE SHOULD HAVE COPIES BY NEXT WEEK.

LUCERO “Nobody’s Darlings” LP 180 gram vinyl

Sabot is on fire lately (and no I don’t mean they are flaming, not that there would be anything wrong with that). They released the None More Black Lp that people have been waiting on for quite some time, they are working on a Fake Problems / Ninja Gun split 7″, and they just repressed the Lucero “Nobodys Darlings” on 180 gram vinyl with news of pressing their entire back-catalog on vinyl in the not too distant future. “Nobodys Darlings” have been out of stock for a while now and I can’t wait to hear this record on 180 gram wax. Good work Sabot. And kudos to you for finally getting the Lucero camp to grant you the licenses to release their other albums on vinyl, something the world truly needs. God knows I’ve tried for years to acquire those licenses. I am just glad to have all of those albums on wax myself.

This is a pre-order, we will have copies by mid week next week.

When all of the albums are finally available again on vinyl, I am going to throw a party at 3 Kings Tavern and will play all the records from start to finish. First whiskey shot on me! We can all get Nicholed together!

TIGERS JAW “Spirit Desire” 7″ purple vinyl
TIGERS JAW “Spirit Desire” 7″ yellow vinyl

Our good buddy Chuck from Beartrap Publicity who also does Tine Engines (responsible for putting out the amazing Look Mexico “Gasp Asp” 7″) is back with a new 7″ by Tigers Jaw. Here is what they have to say about the “Spirit Desire” 7″:

The next great chapter in the evolution of Tigers Jaw, Spirit Desire finds this young-yet-incredibly-accomplished band harnessing all the elements that made its 2008 Self-Titled full-length so unforgettable and improving on them tenfold. The buzz and scrawl of the the guitars, warm and fuzzy keys, penetrating melodies, contagious melodies and a slightly skewed, nostalgic take on indie rock and pop punk – it’s all still there, but the Scranton, P.A. quintet has tightened its songwriting chops and injected a touch of darkness, exhibiting a real skill for exploring new structures and dynamics. More importantly though, Tigers Jaw allows its compositions to develop organically with subtle restraint and a nod toward creating a palpable tension. There’s always a killer hook waiting around the corner on this amazing 7-inch – eager to knock you out and steal your heart – but it never fails to present itself in wonderful, unexpected ways. Spirit Desire doesn’t pulls its punches; it just keeps you guessing when and where those punches are going to land.

We will have a test pressing contest were 3 lucky individuals can each win a test pressing. We should have the copies in 3 to 4 weeks. And sooner than later, we will have a stream of the 4 songs.

Pressing is 150 on Purple, 300 on Yellow
