With the Vinyl Collective Store, I hope to occasionally bring to your attention really great records that may not be on your radar. The Evening Rig are one of those bands that have put out some really great records. This band is kind of a Mineapolis super group as the band features members of The Crush (jason, the singer) and Cardinal Sin / Cadillac Blindside (becky, the drummer). I have been singing the praises of both of the Evening Rig albums as they are the closest thing we all have to a Replacements record in 2010. The Evening Rig are to the Replacements what The Exploding Hearts were to the Clash. Being a huge Replacements fan, I welcome the huge influence the Mats have had on The Evening Rig. I know that some will cry foul at the huge Mats influence on The Evening Rig, but I feel that if the world can have countless Ramones’ influenced punk acts, we can surely have a few influenced by the Replacements.

If you picked up Suburban Home Records’ Mixtape #5, you have a track by The Evening Rig, “Half Asleep” from this album. Everything the band has put out is pure gold and if you haven’t heard this band, check them out. If you like what you hear, pick up the LP or CD or 7″. All great stuff.

The Evening Rig will be playing with Two Cow Garage on November 5th at the Triple Rock. Man would I love to be at this show.

If you pre-order any of the Evening Rig records from me, I should have records in about 2 weeks. While supplies last, orders will come with The Evening Rig Matchbooks (I won’t send them outside of the states for fear of it fucking things up with customs).
