Vinyl Collective is a Suburban Home Records‘ company. We started Vinyl Collective because we thought that there were people all over the world who would get excited about a forum that celebrated the vinyl format. Since starting vinyl collective almost 3 years ago, it has grown into something that I could have never imagined. Vinyl Collective is a site, an online store, a message board, a podcast, a twitter page, and so much more. If this is your first time visiting us, thanks, please come back again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Quickly Do You Process and Ship Out Orders?
Orders are shipped in as timely a manner as we possibly can. We are a very small company; we realize the importance of shipping orders as quickly as possible, but sometimes we get behind depending on the number of orders received. We try our best to NOT work on weekends so if you send us an email over the weekend, do not be alarmed if you don’t hear back from us until after the weekend.

Is everything for sale in the store in stock?
If the item has PRE-ORDER or PO in the title, that means, the item is not actually in stock. We do our best to update the status of expected in stock dates at this link. Understand that we can’t always guarantee these in stock dates due to a number of conditions that are beyond our control, but we do our best to update expected in stock dates.

If my order has an item on Pre-order, when do you ship the order?
If your order has an item on Pre-Order, the entire order won’t ship until the pre-ordered item is in stock. This is due to the fact that we offer such low shipping prices (in the United States, we offer all you can buy shipping for $3.00). If you don’t want to wait for the pre-ordered item to arrive, you can email info@suburbanhomerecords.com and ask for a checkout link to pay additional shipping. In this situation, we will ship the available item(s) and ship the pre-ordered item(s) when they are in stock.

If we placed multiple orders in the same week, can we combine the orders?
If you want to combine orders, you can email info@suburbanhomerecords.com. We will make our best effort to combine your orders and refund the additional postage costs, but please be mindful of the extra work this creates for us. Also, be aware of the fact that due to how incredibly busy we are, make sure you allow us at least a day or two notice that you want your orders combined.

I just received a $3 refund from Vinyl Collective and don’t know why I got it.
If a buyer has multiple orders going out on the same day, we will generally combine those orders and then refund the applicable costs. Since we offer $3 flat rate shipping in the United States, any shipping cost past the first order will be refunded. You can spend this additional money on whatever you like, but we suggest you use it towards that 7” you’ve always wanted from Vinyl Collective.

I run a label that puts out vinyl, will you carry our releases?
If you run a record label that releases vinyl, we want to carry your releases. Head over to our ONLINE SUBMISSION FORM and fill it out, we’ll be in touch shortly. Understand that when we deal directly with labels, we pay on consignment terms. We provide a statement every month with the number of copies sold and along with it send out a payment for that amount. If you are ok with Consignment, get in touch.

What happens if we received the wrong item, wrong quantity, on somebody else’s order?
We are humans and humans are known to make mistakes from time to time. If we made a mistake with your order, we apologize and we will do all we can to remedy the situation. Email info@suburbanhomerecords.com, let us know what might have occurred, and know that we will do everything within our power to make things right. Give us the benefit of the doubt and know that these mistakes have no reflection on our perception of you as an individual.

What happens if our records were damaged in transit?
If your record(s) were damaged in transit, please get in touch with us and we will do our best to rectify the situation. Sometimes labels have extra jackets, sometimes we have additional copies to replaced your damaged record. At some point though, we may offer the ability to take out insurance on your parcel. If the option to receive insurance is waived and your package arrives damaged, we will not accept responsibility for damaged vinyl. Currently though, we will do our best to remedy the problem.

I am moving and need to update my address.
Email your new address to info@suburbanhomerecords.com. We will udpate any outstanding orders with the new address. Please allow at least a day or two for us to update your address.

I am thinking about pressing some records and/or getting printing done, are there any vendors that you recommend:
We give Pirates Press our highest recommendation. We love them. We also use United Records who are doing a really great job. We have used Erika Records and think very highly of them, too. For CD Manufacturing, we absolutely love the cats at Icon Omnimedia. We have used I Love Imprint for a number of our 7″ jackets and LP jackets and they do a great job. And we love the cats at I Heart U Productions for silk-screened jackets, T-shirts, Coozies, Buttons, and Tote Bags. Vertical Merchandise kicks ass at printing slipmats and t-shirts. Aesthetic Prints do a bad ass job on silk-screened jackets. Diesel Fuel Prints does a hell of a job on stickers.

What does Vinyl Collective have to do with Suburban Home?
Suburban Home Records is a small independent label we started in 1995. Vinyl Collective is a Suburban Home Records’ company we started in 2005 that focuses on Vinyl. In many ways Vinyl Collective and Suburban Home are one in the same. In other ways, we could not be more different. I just realized that I did a shitty job of answering your question and it is likely you are even more confused now than before you asked the question.

Besides your website, what are the best ways for us to keep up with all that you do?
