THE RIOT BEFORE “Fists Buried In Pockets” LP blue vinyl

I just got off the phone with our friends at Say 10 who offered us the final copies of the first pressing of The Riot Before’s “Fists Buried in Pockets” LP. The pressing of 500 copies was pressed on blue vinyl and we have the final 60 copies coming our way. This is perfect timing as the band is about to release a brand new album on Paper and Plastick which I have heard is some of their best material yet which I can’t wait to hear. “Fists Buried in Pockets” is one of my favorite discoveries over the last year. This record is absolutely amazing and has that It factor that got people really psyched about bands like Against Me and Gaslight Anthem when those bands were first getting buzzed about. I have yet to see these guys live but hope they make it out to Colorado sometime. We have actually been talking to them about doing an Under the Influence 7″ which would be amazing. We will keep you posted.

Whether you picked up a copy of this record already or not, make sure you pick up a copy before it is out of print. I know that some folks will be buying multiples to flip later so don’t get caught on the receiving end of Ebay prices. The record is only $9.99 and is well worth every penny.

We have a test pressing (first run of test pressing which were rejected due to too much time between songs) to give away with orders of this record. Good luck.

Stream the album in case you haven’t heard it yet.

Well, it should be known that we think the world of Dead Broke Records. They put out really great punk records and if you find yourself a fan of labels like No Idea, Kiss of Death, Fat Wreck, or ADD, I highly recommend giving the following streams a test drive. If you like what you hear, pick up a record. Note that Iron Chic is temporarily out of stock.

GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV “This Empty Northern Hemisphere” LP brown vinyl

Not exactly surprised, today, I share with you news that Gregory Alan Isakov’s vinyl release of “This Empty Northern Hemisphere” is nearly out of print. The 500 piece pressing on brown vinyl was co-released with Gregory. I just did a count and we have 14 copies remaining of our half of the pressing. I gave Greg the last 20 copies of their half of the pressing so find him out on tour and you can still find a copy.

If you haven’t listened to “This Empty Northern Hemisphere”, there is a reason why people have been getting so excited about this album. The album is fantastic from start to finish and I can’t recommend it enough if you are a fan of Folk/Indie Rock as Greg’s music falls in between Rocky Votolato, Iron and Wine, and you can tell that he spent some time listening to folks like Dylan and Springsteen. Listen to the stream below:

Last week, we got an email from Hugo regarding an LP that they were self-releasing and we were so excited about the release, we asked if we could sell it in the Vinyl Collective Store. Fast forward less than one week and we are nearly sold out of the Green vinyl of “Chasers”. Currently, we have 3 copies left. We asked if we could stream some songs from the release and we just got final versions of 4 songs including their cover of Against Me “Sink Florida Sink”. I love the entire release and encourage everyone to pick up this album. Not only is the record a 9 song LP, but it has an mp3 coupon that will enable you to download the 9 songs on the LP and 10 bonus live, rare, hard to find tracks. We should the vinyl in March.

We are happy to bring you a stream from the upcoming release from Traffic Street, Like Bats “Look on the Bright Side” 7″. Like Bats call Northwest Indiana home and Traffic Street says about the release:

One of the best young bands in the midwest follow up their debut EP with four brand new songs of intense, energetic pop punk loaded with grit and spite. Highly recommended for fans of early Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms, or Dear Landlord.

Stream the upcoming 7″ from Still Flyin, here is what Ernest Jennings has to say of the single:

A Brand new 2 song 7″ from international fun rock sensations, Still Flyin – the first in a series of releases this year showing off some new sounds., new ideas, and all the incredible joy you have already come to expect from them. Limited to 400 copies in the US and containing a code to download the tracks as well.

We posted a pre-order yesterday for the new Whoa Oh release, a 7″ by the Manix called “Madmartigan”. The band calls Minneapolis home (man is there something in the water out there?) and in addition to this 7″ on Whoa Oh, they will be part of the Dangerous Intersections 7″ series with a Denver act, No High Fives to Bullshit. I recommend checking out the track if you are a fan of Whoa Oh, It’s Alive, or Red Scare’s bands. We should have 7″s in hand in March.

I was just thinking the other day that just posting a stream on our site may not always entice you to listen to it. If it is an artist you haven’t heard, you are likely to make a snap decision on whether or not you will like the record without ever listening. I figured from time to time, I will post an “IF YOU LIKE, YOU’LL LIKE” in the subject header with hopes that you might like one of the artists and find yourself compelled to listen to the artist’s full album stream.

This first attempt is with PJ Bond’s debut, solo album, “You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical”. It is one of the few albums everyone in the office can agree on and one that I personally like a lot. I hear some Elliott Smith influences, but the playing and singing reminds me quite a bit of Rocky Votolato. I have yet to see him play (missed him on the last tour), but I look forward to seeing him some day. We loved the album so much, we put a track from the album on our 2nd Suburban Home Records’ mix tape. Black Numbers released the album and we currently have it on a few colors of vinyl and on CD. If you like what you hear, here is a link to purchase a copy.

Our friends at All In Vinyl recently put out a split 7″ between Red City Radio and The Great St Louis. We have a full 7″ stream for you to check out the songs. Take a listen, if you like what you hear, pick up a copy and/or share the stream with others.

As you may or may not know, we at Suburban Home like having the ability to offer our albums as full album streams so that you can listen to our releases before deciding to purchase them. We also like the idea that anyone can post our streaming player on their blog, myspace page, or pretty much any site that allows html to be used. We are excited to post the full album stream of Tim Barry’s newest album, “28th & Stonewall”. We ask you to please give it a listen and if you are so inclined, please share the stream with others. As a very small, indie label, we don’t have the resources bigger labels have and appreciate any word of mouth our streams may help facilitate. Thanks for checking out the album and thanks for sharing.
